Nice to see you participating, Mark.
I believe that we have a file on Alpha, which I will check out
for sure, that breaks down the statistics by country up to around
the 70s. I will check this out. I have noticed from the
material that Bob Fletcher sends up our way that it appears that
your country has had its share. I have also noticed from the
news clippings that the UK seems to have an abundance of
sightings as well.

Perhaps these are all correct. I feel that numbers 3 and 4 are
probably more on the mark, though. Due to the nature of the
phenomena here in the U.S. and the seeming intense interest in
the New Age connection, there seems to be a heightened awareness
of the possibility of 'space brothers' visiting Earth.

Out of all of Lazar's claims, this one sounds the most plausible.
"Out of sight; Out of mind" is the most famous bureaucratic
statement of the 70s and 80s.

Very good point. This and others aspects are currently being
investigated in the Nevada region. Most of the aspects of the
historocity of the Air Force's acquisition of 90,000 acres is
correct, Lazar seems to rely heavily upon these types of
activities as a means to support his claims. However, this does
not mean that they are even inter-related to one another or to
his experience. I found the land grab inception to Lazar's story
very interesting. The way that it was presented to the
television public made it sound as though it was very mysterious,
however, the Air Force did not say that their authority to do the
act of acquiring the land was higher than the United States, but
only higher than the Air Force. Surely, other departments of the
government are at a higher level than the Air Force, and with
this in mind plus the fact that Dreamland has been known to be
super-secret for over forty years does not support Lazar's
claims. If there was an unscheduled nuclear test in 1987, this
may be suspect. I am very interested in that test and whether it
was authentic and if there was anything unusual registered by
anyone monitoring the atmosphere.

Ooooh, I LIKE how this guy thinks. I smell the same rat, Don. And we're not
alone, either. The Supreme Curmudgeon himself, Jim Moseley, wrote in the
latest Saucer Smear,

Pleased to have you on board.
Paranet is an independent BBS network, set up to study all Paranormal
experiences. the udenet bunch sees only one of the four public message
areas. The area you see was originally called paranet-ufo. We TRY to
keep this area UFO oriented, as Paranet-general is the proper place
for the witchcraft et al discussions... however it is sometimes impossible
to prevent people from posting off subject.
I'm very interested in your comments, and hope to see you post more
on Paranet.

For about seven years (1976-1984) I lived in Socorro, New Mexico and
worked at the Very Large Array radio telescope, which is located in
the middle of nowhere about 25 miles west of Magdalena and about 25
miles east of Datil, New Mexico. Some of the people working at the
VLA live in Datil. During that time I never heard any direct
reports of UFO activity in the area.
I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that there was a brief mention
of UFO sightings in the Magdalena and/or Datil area in Ray Stanford's
1976 book _Socorro 'Saucer' in a Pentagon Pantry_ (Blueapple Books,
P.O. Box 5694, Austin, TX 78763). Despite the stupid title, this is
a very good book that discusses the famous 1964 UFO sighting in
Socorro.
BTW, my interest in UFOs was sparked by discussions with a
professional astronomer during the 50 mile drive between Socorro and
the VLA site. Don't let anyone tell you that no astronomers believe
that UFOs are a real phenomemon worthy of scientific study!
