I spoke with New York UFO researcher Antonio Huneeus tonight, and got a
couple of interesting new developments from him.
First is the apparent reversal of 40 years of anti-UFO sentiment on the
part of the New York Times. Huneeus says that the august paper ran an
editorial last Saturday (10/14) saying, in effect, that UFO debunkers "miss
the point." I will be getting a clipping from Antonio and will post it here
with, but he said it was surprisingly positive considering the paper's
owner, Arthur Sulzberger, openly detests UFO stories and says that the
Times does not do serious UFO investigations because the subject is silly.
Second is a similar reversal of sorts, this one from long-time UFO debunker
James Oberg, a NASA space scientist and specialist on the Russian space
program. Oberg, who usually confines himself to UFO reports that turn out
to be rocket re-entries, said in response to a probing interview by
Huneeus, that there probably is "something" to all the UFO reports, that
they can't ALL be explained by pranks, misperceptions, etc. Even more
surprisingly, he seems to lean towards the Keel/Vallee "interdimensional"
theory, and cites a book called "The Origins of Consciousness" in arguing
that there may be several equally valid levels of perception in human
beings. "I'm not as cynical as Phil [Klass]," he is quoted as saying. More
direct quotes will be forthcoming from Antonio.
In the battle for the intellectual high ground between
skeptics and believers, these are both
profoundly important developments, especially the latter - which I believe
is being reported here for the first time.

Thanks Ely, I am still trying to get ahold of her, the guy I talked to
about this who got the info from her is out of town right now and I have
no way of reaching her, since I dont even know her name. I hope to learn
more about this from her and will post whatever I find out, as she is the
only person I know of that is alive and was at Roswell during the time,
also I should have rephrased my comment about HER assignment to patrol
the desert but that it was her assignment to assign militay personnel to
patrol the area with the weapons..Sorry got my wires crossed..I'll keep
ya posted, what I really wish is someone who was there and is currently
alive and knew what happened(surely, some of those archeology students
are still alive, there must be a way to track them down), but what I
would really like is for someone to just tell it all like it was, but
then none of the skeptics of course would believe them...Oh well, we can
always hope some respectable person will tell all..

Thanks for the reply, Richard.
Since writing that message I attended one of the Dearings' seminars.
They have an interesting story to tell...I could have dominated their
seminar time just asking questions about their encounters. Their
message of benevolent space brothers is not a new one though. I just
hope I can encourage them to work with MUFON of Tennessee on handling
cases called into their UFO Communications Center in Nashville that is
not in their realm of expertise.....They had some interesting drawings
of a Gray done by a 10 year-old boy in Jackson, Mississippi accompanied
by stories of a psychic-paranormal nature occurring in this young man's
home!

Sorry, I have written a follow-up message to another telling how I
screwed up and when I was typing it my mind got distracted as I was
typing it while I was talking to my friend getting the info from him
and I got sidetracked, but it was a matter I believe of HER ASSIGNING
military personnel to patrol the area from an order handed down to her,
yes I feel pretty foolish saying Female MP's in 1947!! Hardly accurate!
Once again, sorry fer the mix-up, I should get some more info fairly
soon as soon as my friend gets back into town and gets ahold of her..

Thank you for your remarks in reference to my appearence on the King
telecast. To answer your first question, the show had heard of various
research I had conducted, and had been informed of my law enforcement
backround, ie, investigations. As far as what went on behind the
scenes, not very much. As a matter of fact, I did not even have a
monitor to see to whom I was talking to. As to whether Buchanan or
Adams took anything seriously or not, who knows? WE KNOW that there is
something to all this, so therefore it is no crime to be ignorant, but
to be ignorant, and know you are, yet still refuse to look to see what
facts there are........ well you get the point.
As to Mr. Wm Coopers veracity, or lack of same, I am not the one to
ask. Speak once more to Jim Speiser. Jim had dealings with Cooper
when he first surfaced on the UFO scene. I am under the impression
that Mr. Cooper revised his material a number of times, and now is
charging all the $ the market will bear, in order to dish this to the
public. I recently heard him, and much of his talk consisted with
information that anyone can get from a number of recently published
works on UFOs, and ancient astronaut stuff.
If you were at Vegas to hear the alternative conference, I also spoke
on some research I have been involved with, and having spoken to Wm
English since then, English has some interesting feedback on Cooper and
his veracity. I might add that this is second hand, but knowing
English somewhat, I have no reason to doubt what was said to me.

With the Inside Edition photographer ?
I could drive up there, it's about a 3 hour drive from here.
When I worked for Motorola in Joplin I was one of the service men who took
care of the police radios in that little town. Honestly I am a bit
surprised it even got on the U.S. wall map I have here...<grin> Normally
they only put major cities on those maps.
I have been talking to Officer Green about every other day up there and will
see what else I can learn about these sightings.
