The astounding UFO news is being broadcast on KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.
I can't help wondering... KLAS-TV ... Phil Klass ... Phil KLASs...
Hmm... a cosmic syncronicity or what?

I dunno, Ray...we're certainly reaching here. But then, with an enigma like
Cooper, reaching for answers is warranted. I stress, though, that big-time
liars don't wear tee-shirts that say, "I'm lying." They publicly lie, for
the most part, because they are so good at it that they can actually get
away with it, or at least fool a lot of people. Case in point: this Dianne
Downs creature, who shot her own kids. She seems absolutely sincere. Not
convincing, mind you, but sincere.

The ability to tell the Big Lie convincingly is one of the major stumbling
blocks of ufology. Some people who "just can't be lying" or "just wouldn't
lie"
, are lying. Its a shame.

Something about the alignment of Neptune's magnetic field, and its strength
relative to other gas giants. And no, he was wrong, and admitted it, but of
course came up with a post-hoc explanation for his error.

In case you missed it, a segment of this broadcast showed a video taken by a
lady in North Carolina of several bright objects in the sky over her house.
The video was taken at night, and showed the objects in a "check-mark"
formation. A plane flew into the frame, and she panned with it for a few
seconds, catching the engine noise, then panned back to the objects, which
had changed formation slightly, and a couple of them winked out. She
"moozed" (zoomed out) and the second-story window of her bathroom became
visible. A shape resembling a person or entity moved past the window. (She
says she didn't notice it until she played back the tape.) There was no one
in her house at the time, she claims. The cat was also outside.

MUFON is investigating. Possibilities: the lights could be a high-altitude
flare drop, though this is easily checked. The shape in the window? I think
we'll have to wait for the enhancement.

Dear Friends,

There has been nothing on the SF bay area media about the Area 51 story,
as far as I have heard. I called KGO-TV in San Francisco, which is an
"O and O" station, owned and operated by the ABC network, and they said that they had heard about it, but didn't plan to carry anything locally, but that the
network was investigating. Sounded like BS to me.

I hope the LV stations, or some third party down there, will see fit to make
quality tapes available at reasonable prices. I'd certaintly like copies
of all these goings on. Perhaps the 2-hour special will be the best
best. My thanks to Robert for his daily updates about the series; it's
fascinating.

About Bill Cooper and John Lear: I can understand why long-time researchers
are annoyed with them, and why sysops have made him persona no grata, but
for my part their reports are about the only interesting material in the
ParaNet UFO sections. I guess that reflects my own paranoiac viewpoint.

I have been making notes, over the last month or so, for an SF novel I
call "Storming Dreamland", which ends with a cavalry assault against the
Dulce base. Now it looks as though events are overtaking the book -
a hazard of all SF writing.

That sounds like an interesting idea.

I will to just to help out but how shall we figure on the "cost" of making
the dubs ? Price of the tape + shipping + time involved & send them out COD
shipping collect, or something like that ?

If you were dealing with just one tape it wouldn't be much of a problem but
when you are dealing with 9 shows that were (how long ?) then you are going
to spend a little bit of time making them + the price of the tapes.

I can get VHS tapes (any discount store) from $3-$6 depending on what
quality of tape they want to use. Slow speed or "EP" will get you 6 hours
on a tape which would be good.

9 shows at one hour each will take two tapes and about 10 hours of recording
(set up, rewinding, etc.) so that will take about a day to do the job.

If you only have one VCR to record to then it will take all day to make one
set of tapes for one other person. If you need to make more than one set of
tapes then it would be wise to have more than one VCR to record to while
making the dubs, save time and effort that way.

It will be easer to figure all this out once a person has the tapes to
figure how many are needed and how long it will take to make a set.

If the originals are recorded on fast speed the copies will have a better
quality, which would be nice for the people who are making the copies who
are no doubt going to make those copies at slow speed to reduce the cost to
those who are getting the tapes.

Needless to say I am in the video business and have made a good number of
dubs myself. While you can't "sell" the tapes in this case those making the
tapes need compensation for the blank tapes required to make dubs and also
for the shipping. Some who make dubs might want a little something for
their time and equipment used but I doubt that would be very much as we are
all interested in this information and happy to share it with others who
have a like interest.

Let's see what we can figure out on this and how many would like to help
make and mail out the dubs.

That's it in a nutshell, and you are welcome.

Nothing against Mr Cooper personally but he has done more to confuse the
interested parties than to help explain the phenomena. He acts like he is
driven by some "force" to get this (his brand of) information out to the
public. Well as I said before, it's not all "true" and he admits it so why
does he feel so pressed to tell us things that he admits are not true ?

Go figure...

Yes, we are reviewing it on tape at this moment, very interesting 5min of
video.

It's very hard to tell just what the "thing" is that moves past the window.

It's head would be above the second section of the window and behind a shade
if it were a humanoid form, therefore it is seen from the shoulders down to
about where knees would be perhaps.

Unfortunatly, the length of time that is needed to pass before I can talk
about SOME things has not yet been long enough. I dont particularly care
for the idea of trying to explain why I talked about this or that, which
was still labled under it's classification level of Secret or higher.
Somehow, our "Intelligence Community" doesnt treat those who talk when not
supposed to, very kindly. I have no desire to be "quieted with prejudice".
It's not healthy. The closest I have come to revealing ANYTHING was in a
book that I wrote called INFILTRATE, and even in that, the dates, and
names were changed to remove the security problems. You want proof, but
to do that, I would have to expose myself to unwanted problems from Uncle
Sam. Sorry, but no thanks.

As a follow-up on this case, both Jennie Zeidman and Bill
Timmerman of (CUFOS), and I guess MUFON went to the site
in Millersburg, Ohio and took soil samples. It is not
known if any readings were taken by Geiger Counter.
One note: It would seem that this investigation was first
learned by CUFOS who did not notify MUFON until I notified
the State Director in Ohio. Does anyone know the status of
working relationship between CUFOS and MUFON?
Hope to have more on this case as it develops.

You have hit the nail on the head. I've been saying for a long time that
UFOs will remain the Rodney Dangerfield of science until they get respect
from the mainstream press. Now, maybe, things are starting to change. It'll
take some time, though, judging by the reactions from most journalists I've
spoken to.

OK, so it looks like the Cold War is over (and I stress "looks" -- I may be
a liberal, but I'm no dummy). The Wall has fallen, Poland is in the hands of
the Poles, Bulgaria is next....all in the space of a year.

I'd like to think Gorbachev is just a real swell guy, and apparently Dick
Cheney thinks the same thing. But my gosh, it was all so *easy*. Everyone
just fell in place. Does Gorbachev really have that much sway?

What I'm leading up to is, are we to take all this at face value? I'm not a
student of international politics, but I've seen precious little speculation
by the editorial writers and the anti-Communist wags as what may REALLY be
going on behind the scenes. They all just seem to think that it was time to
happen. But its been time to happen for a couple of decades now. WHY THIS
YEAR?

OK, gang, I'll spill my guts. I had paid very little attention to the many
quotes of Ronald Reagan, saying "What if we faced a common enemy from outer
space?"
After all, every schoolboy from eighth grade on has had the same
thought.

But now, I'm not so sure....

Can someone with more knowledge of international affairs set me straight?
