the burnt grass has been reported by GTV 9 as having a distinct Kerosine

The object was also sighted in Frankston.
A spokesperson (female) from a ufo group (un-named) appeared also.
The report was on coast to coast.

Subject: General MacArthur
Date: 14 Oct 89 05:54:00 GMT
As you know, last evening, Don Ecker appeared on the Larry King
Show on CNN. Toward the end of the broadcast, Don mentioned that
MacArthur had addressed the 1962 graduating class at West Point.
Pat Buchanan was shocked at this revelation and stated in so many
words that this could not be true. He stated that he has
MacArthur's speech on his wall.
>From Maj. Donald Keyhoe's book, Aliens from Space, Keyhoe quotes
MacArthur during this address to the West Point graduates. Below
is the excerpt from his book:
Two years later, Gen. Douglas MacArthur told the West Point
graduating class that nations of the Earth would some day have to
be united against attacks by people from other planets. "We
speak," he said, "of ultimate conflict between the united human
race and the sinister forces of some other planetary galaxy."
Because of his rank and great military experience, this warning
was broadcast by many stations.
Aliens From Space (C)1973 by Donald E. Keyhoe
Now, one wonders why this quote was made in the first place.
What could have driven MacArthur to make such a statement?
Secondly, something that I noticed a while back. When the
program UFO Cover-Up? Live was broadcast, I noticed at the very
beginning of the show that there were various quotes from people
such as Jimmy Carter, etc., relating their UFO experiences. For
some reason, when the MacArthur quote showed up on the screen, it
was so brief that it was not even discernable. Using my VCR and
the freeze frame, I determined that this quote was used, but, for
some reason, was aborted so the viewing audience would not see
it. This could have been purely a technical problem, or it could
have been some other reason, of which I do not readily know.

THe engima of earthquakes and illusionary images has been studied by Canadian researcher, Persinger. The phenomenon was also well noted by UFOlogists and "Prophets" back in the 50's.

I did see the Unsolved Mysteries report. It wasn't bad. I think
it didn't take an un biased stand on the whole thing. I think that the
report went against the government. That was what it talked about.
How the coverup occured. Well, talk to you later!

Hi Mike! Well, MacArthur was my great-uncle! So let me see about
scaring up the text of his speech. He was always rather a mystic, you
know. Buthe was certainly practical enough to recognise a threat -- be
it conventional or extraterrestial.
But one thing puzzles me: **IF** MJ-12 or whatever is real (and that
looks like a very big "if" from what I read about Moore & Co.),
Great-uncle Doug would have been about the last person Truman would
have trusted with the news.
Unless he was in MJ-12, of course, as Supreme Commander -- before
Truman fired him.
Let me see what I can turn up.
Best,
Clark

In the Summer 1989 issue of Robert Anton Wilson's Trajectories
Newsletter it is reported that Dr. Michael Persinger has a device
which can induce the UFO abduction experience. I thought that this
was particularly interesting in light of some of the ideas mentioned
by Whitley Strieber. If the UFO abduction experience can actually be
induced in this way, then we might think that the phenomena are induced
by electromagnetic effects. Can biological entities as well as machines
modulate/control these electromagnetic effects?
It is also interesting that we apparently cannot distinguish between
what is <<real>> and what is happening in a dream state. The whole thing
reminds me of the series of books by Carlos Casteneda where the goal
of the impeccable warrior is to become familiar with and to remember
what has occurred in the <<second attention.>>
An exerpt from the article follows.
-keith
New HEAD Hardware
The Persinger Helmet: Dr. Michael Persinger has been making news again.
To test his hypothesis that electromagnetic waves can create UFO
experiences and other <<paranormal>> perceptions, Dr. Persinger
(Laurentian University, Ontario) has designed the most awesome brain
machine to appear thusfar. The Persinger <<helmet>> (as it has been
dubbed) sends specific frequencies into the hippocampus area of the
back brain and a large percentage of subjects report UFO abduction
experiences, <<out-of-body experiences>> and a wide range of Altered
States of Consciousness, including <<union with God.>> None of the
HEAD machines previously reported in Trajectories produce so many
mystic states -- or so many hallucinations. The helmet experience,
Dr. Persinger says, <<involves a widening of emotional meaning, such
that things not typically considered significant would now be considered
meaningful>> and hallucinations are <<percieved as extremely real.>>
Dr. Persinger does not intend to allow this device to be marketed for
recreational uses or experiments by the untrained and unprofessional.

>From: keithr@tolkien.wv.tek.com
I saw last night (10-12-89) the last 20 minutes of an (I assume)
half-hour segment on the Larry King Show on CNN on UFOs occasioned by
the Soviet Tass report. Pat Buchanan, the politically conservative
commentator sometimes seen on CNN's Crossfire, sat in for Larry King.
The pro guest was Don Ecker, who has written an article or two for the
newsstand UFO magazine and is a field investigator for MUFON. The con
guest was a mainstream journalist, Peter Adams (?), who seemed to have
special knowledge of Soviet journalism.
Here are some impressions from memory:
Don said he thought a CNN reporter had gotten through to some Soviet
investigator/official (?) who said that there had been 1500 -- my
memory must be wrong (!), I'll check my video recording -- UFO
sightings in the area in the last few years. Don stressed this was
unconfirmed.
Toward the end, Don brought up Gen. MacArthur's last speech in 1962 to
a military academy to the effect that our next war will be with the
aliens. An incredulous Buchanan said he had that speech on his wall
and there weren't any aliens mentioned in it! Don said he had the
text of the speech right there in the studio. At a boy, Don!
Peter Adams said the important thing about the Soviet story is what it
shows about folklore and the stories people believe in and, as Jim
Speiser pointed out, that Tass reported it (initially anyway) as
straightforward news. This kind of story was completely out of
character for Tass. Peter then started talking about "pseudoscience".
I certainly didn't get the idea from Peter that he would ever
entertain the notion for one instant that the story may be more or
less factually true.
Don chided Peter, after Peter brought up ETs and flying saucers, that
he (Don) never mentioned either of these to that time. I thought he
scored one here. Peter was apparently quite ignorant of the UFO
literature. Somewhere around here Don made the plea for an open,
honest congressional investigation leading to a scientific study of
the UFO.
About three phone calls were taken. One ancient sounding man said that
he saw something while he was a custodian (?) at Wright-Patterson that
convinced him there really were saucers. Buchanan and Adams just laughed.
Another caller wondered if the government didn't tell us the (ET) truth about
UFOs because of fear of causing public panic. Don tried to comment on
this by bringing up the Orson Wells War of the Worlds radio broadcast that
did cause public panic, but was cut off to go to a commercial, I think.
Seeing this kind of give and take in such a short time period makes me wonder
how even the more mundane UFO facts will ever get undistorted dissemination.
The UFO is so complex and has such a long history that I really despair,
sometimes.
To me, the treatment that this story gets in the mainstream press is
the real story here. Like Strieber's Communion, which was promoted as
a factual account of one person's encounters with ETs, this story
should provoke some analysis in the mainstream press about how to
report fact and "fiction". Strieber's book caused an article in
Publisher's Weekly to be written about when is "fact", fact? (I still
haven't made time to look it up -- one of those hundred things :-( to
do.) Last year in the Columbia Journalism Review, William Boot
published an article about investigating and reporting UFOs in the
press. He said the press should be cautious about reporting negative
opinions about UFOs before really doing any real investigation. I
wrote Boot a letter praising him for his opinion. (He hasn't replied
-- yet. :-)) At least, some of the press is slowly waking up to their
responsibilities, but it is painfully slow.

Let me add my voice to the congratulations. Well done, my boy! I was a bit
worried about the MacArthur quote, as I thought it was perhaps made during
a different address, perhaps one to Congress, but Mike has dug it up in
Keyhoe.
It would be good to know if CNN has gotten any feedback since the show
aired. Any way of finding out?

No, not a link between the Soviets and MJ-12. Now THAT would be a
story! Just remarks on topics flying by in these messages.
The Soviet sighting: sounds more and more absurd to me, the best part
so far being the report that the entities had three eyes! One
independent TV channel in Los Angeles ran the story with lovely
fanciful drawings of the three-eyed entities, and also a brief
interview with a VERY skeptical and reticent TASS reporter in
Washington.
Another lovely fragment of the story not yet on our messages here: that
the aliens had a tube-like device (well, we've heard of that one
before) that made one of the children invisible, and then visible
again!
Finally -- just to add to all the lovely, loony details -- the UFO
Contact Hotline (a 976 phone number here in L.A.) is reporting that the
UFO seen in Voronezh carried the UMMO symbol!!!
The folklore side of this is getting out of hand.
And now for MJ-12. However messed up Moore might be, whatever kind of
disinformation/lie/hoax MJ-12 might turn out to be . . . if an alien
craft did crash at Roswell, then sure as hell SOMETHING like MJ-12
exists somewhere in the government. Because they'd HAVE to study the
craft and occupants: they'd have to make that one of the most serious
concerns they had. And, doubtless, one of the most secret.
This point has been made here before, but seems important to make
again. Doesn't matter if MJ-12 is fake: if Roswell happened as set
forth in Corbin's memo, then high-level, secret government UFO study is
for sure happening.

Good job on Larry King! You're luck Buchanan was hosting because King
would have laughed you off the air (as he does with most UFOlogists).
And why did they pick your 'opponent' for the show. He has no expertise
in either UFOs OR the Soviet press. He left from his visit BEFORE the

I got ta thinking sorta, and somebody correct me if I am way off base
here, but WHY would the entire Soviet TASS agency go to such extremes to
announce and promote such a story IF it wasnt true? I mean, I would think
that they would loose all their credibility if it is proven a hoax, then
how could they ever expect to be trusted for new reporting in the Soviet
Union or elsewhere in the world? It would seem to me that they would make
damn sure it was a verified case before releasing it to the WHOLE DAMN
WORLD!!! Otherwise they would simply be laughed off the face of the
Earth! Just my thoughts on the subject, but it is most defientely causing
one hell of stir! I believe that this will change how people look on the
subject permantely, also of interest in todays local paper, there is a
report with the headline of "UFO DOUBTERS IN IOWA SEE THE LIGHT" and it
has a report of UFO's seen over the central-southern area of the state in
or nearby a small town, and was reported by a woman who had a friend also
with her who witnessed the event, I will type the report up if there is
any interest and upload it.
