2:00 MST - CNN
Soviet television has now jumped into the act with the landing of
the UFO in the Soviet Union.
The reporter interviewed one of the witnesses, a child, who
described that the craft landed in the park and opened up a
window peering out. The witness described the creature as having
three eyes, two in the normal place and one in the middle.
Also interviewed were two UFO investigators, apparently the
equivalent of a MUFON investigator, who used a Bio Meter and a
Magnetograph. Both instruments did confirm that something had
been there. Also noted on the film from the Soviet Union were
what appeared to be landing marks impressed deep in the soil.
These marks appeared to be circular, about 18" in diameter and
about 8-10 inches deep.

ParaNet (Denver, CO)--October 11, 1989--July 2, 1947 could
be a day that will go down in infamy in the history of UFOlogy.
The place--Roswell, New Mexico. The event--A crash of an
intelligent, biological entity controlled, highly sophisticated
machine from literally out of this world. So says the team of
Don Schmitt, Regional Director of the J. Allen Hynek Center for
UFO Studies (CUFOS) of Chicago, Illinois, and Kevin Randle, a
former Captain in Air Force intelligence who began researching
this highly controversial report from July, 1947.
According to the reports, a UFO crashed during a violent
thunderstorm in a very remote area of the Brazel ranch northeast
of Corona, New Mexico around July 2, 1947. As has been
previously reported, the crash site was quickly cleaned up by
personnel from Roswell Army Air Force Base in Roswell, New
Mexico. Jesse Marcel was quoted as stating that the material
that he found in the desert was not of this world and was ordered
to fly the remains to Carswell AFB in Texas where a press
conference was held to tell the nation that the material found
was that of a crashed weather balloon. Further, unconfirmed
reports, claimed that alien bodies were also recovered and all
remains were taken to the infamous 'Hangar 18' at Wright-
Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio where a tight security lid was
clamped down on the study of the find. To date, virtually none
of this material has ever been substantiated. According to Don
Schmitt, a coverup of major proportions has ensued for over 42
years as to the true nature of the Roswell crash.
When Schmitt attempted to reconstruct a time line of the
incident, he found too many pieces missing and began an
investigation in September, 1987 to determine what those missing
pieces really were. He enlisted the aid of former Air Force
Intelligence Captain Kevin Randle, whom Schmitt stated, was
totally a skeptic. He was friends of Phil Klass, and Schmitt
wanted such a skeptic involved in the investigation. According
to Schmitt, Randle 'has total conviction' in UFOs.
During the investigation, a definitive time line was
established from July 2, 1947 to July 10, 1947, and it was found
that there were numerous witnesses to the incident that had never
been found nor had been interviewed. From this point onward,
Schmitt and Randle made four trips to New Mexico and other parts
of the country interviewing the witnesses to this incident.
Locating the exact location of the crash, with the help of Bill
Brazel, the son of the rancher that originally made the awesome
discovery, Schmitt and Randle and some scientists conducted a
survey and excavation of the crash site. Jerome Clark, editor
for the CUFOS bi-monthly publication IUR, stated that the crash
site was in an extremely remote area. The findings of the
excavation of that area will be detailed in an upcoming
publication of IUR.
William Moore and Charles Berlitz drew national public
attention to this incident with the publication of 'The Roswell
Incident' in 1980. During the investigation, Schmitt found that
the material in the book was "highly inaccurate, and had much
paraphrasing and many misquotes with very misleading information
which really surprised us." The CUFOS investigation has turned
up some very interesting facts and is "specifically attacking the
military involvement with Roswell," Schmitt stated.
"There is clear evidence of a coverup. More evidence, in
fact, of a coverup than ever before. In fact we can pinpoint
where it originated, the time line, the manner and degree with
which it took place," Schmitt said. "And, where the specific
orders were coming from. Originally, Moore talked about one
flight in the book with Jesse Marcel. We have found two other
flights with other people and have tracked down those crewmen.
So far, I have tracked down a dozen former military people who
were involved who have never been interviewed."
When asked about why this material was never brought to
light with Ruppelt or Keyhoe in their previous writings, Schmitt
states, "The coverup was so effective at that time. If you think
back to July, 1947, the intelligence network was at its peak just
coming off the war. Everything was still in place and in high
gear. They so quickly removed it from the intelligence office in
Roswell. The Pentagon became involved immediately. All orders
were going through counterintelligence and we have pinned down
those people involved. They still deny involvement, but we have
other people that testify to their involvement. So, the coverup
is still ongoing. That surprised us too. That 42 years after
the fact, we still have these people that confidentially tell us
'that we still cannot talk about it.'"
When asked how the MJ-12 material is affected by this,
Schmitt states, "It is the reason behind our initial
investigation. That if the purpose behind the MJ-12 document was
disinformation, it was to strike a death blow to Roswell we had
to make a distinction and make it in a hurry." However, although
some details about Roswell that have surfaced from this
investigation that confirm such a group, there is no firm link to
them. Stan Friedman has been encouraged by Don Schmitt to
continue seeking the truth about MJ-12. It is noted here that
Stan Friedman is conducting a cooperative investigation in light
of these new facts about Roswell. There is corroboration between
Friedman and CUFOS. According to Schmitt, the focus of their
investigation is Roswell and the details behind the crash.
It appears that some very interesting things are surfacing
on this. According to Jerome Clark, "The Roswell Incident is the
most important known UFO event in history. By the time that this
investigation is over it will shape our future understanding of
the UFO phenomenon. This investigation gets to the very core of
all issues."
In closing, Clark stated that such questions as "Are UFOs
real? Are they physical and intelligently controlled? Are they
piloted by Biological Entities that originate outside of this
world?" The answers could be a resounding, YES!!

Date: 12 Oct 89 04:24:00 GMT
Today (Wedesday) on the Rush Limbaugh radio talkshow,
Russ reported that 3 airliners and the private jet
carrying the Governer of Virgina saw 4 UFOs over
Kentucky. Rush got this information from an airline
pilot friend. He reported that the pilots involved
reported the sighting to the Indianapolis air traffic
control center.
Rush is active on Compuserve (HeUs in the directory).
Any active investigators may want to drop him a
note and find out when exactly this happened. The
tapes from Indianapolis center could be requested
from the FAA under FIOU. Rush reported that
the Governer also saw the objects.
Rush said he belives his friend saw something,
but thinks it is related to Star Wars, and not
aliens.

The point of the story, from the American press corps' view, was NOT that a
UFO landed in Russia, confirmed or not, but that TASS was reporting it
openly. The sub-text is, "See the effects of glasnost on what was formerly
a tight-lipped propaganda organ of the Politburo." That doesn't require
self censorship.
That WAS the story. NOW the story is, "See the effect of the story on the
American people. They really think aliens landed in Russia!" (See today's
New York Times).

The 'landing' the other day is being questioned by just about everybody
(including myself)
#1: The Tass reporter admitted his sources were 10-13 year old boys.
#2: They were in an area where stories of UFOs and psychic phenomenon
are as popular as 'The Cosby Show'.
#3: The scientist quoted in the first report said he was misquoted and
said he is very skeptical of the report.
Ladies and gents, don't jump on the 'confirmed landing' bandwagon yet,
you might get burned.

Hi Don,
You mean we have to wait a whole year before we get to
see that article, gee, the way our local TV stations are going, they'll
axe the show before we get to see /the article in question.
(Thats a bit of an in house [country] joke, as some of the TV stations
here have over extended themselves are are axing programs left, right
and centre, although i think we've seen the last of that, at least i
hope so !! )
I cannot recall any TV programs that ever really gave a non biased
report on UFO's, there's always that feeling in the background that
they are taking the mickey (making a joke of) people who believe in
such things, therefore making a farce out of anyone who believes in
UFO's and UFOLOGY..
Thats why i look forward to seeing the Unsolved Mysteries report, it
would be nice to see a serious report with factual information, some of
it provided by our very own Paranet, it will be worth the wait.
Its nice to chat to someone from America, its nice to know that some of
our technologies can be used for good, and the invention of computers ,
modems and BBSs sure have done that. Can you imagine telling a friend,
six or seven years ago, that soon there would be a world wide computeer
network where someone in America could send a message to someone in
Australia, and have a reply only a few days later, and possibly expect
comments from people in Europe,Africa etc..?? They'd call you nuts!
Thanx for the info!

Date: 11 Oct 89 23:57:00 GMT
While on the way to get a hair cut we had the radio in the car tuned to
a state Radio station called 3AW when a most interesting news article
came up. It was reported that the Soviet TASS agency had reported a UFO
landing in Russia, and the aliens had been seen, by the Russian
public.( Presumably these people saw the aliens near there craft )
Are the reporters having a lend of us ? The Australian Correspondant
didnt seem to know anything, and when asked if it could be a joke or
hoax said that TASS doesnjoke.
Has this story been reported elsewhere ??

Yes! What is a confirmed report anyway?? TASS has always been an arm
of the Soviet government in the past. So, it used to be a front and
NOT the truth. What makes everyone think that TASS now has reliable
accurate reporting????

generated some interest!!! Has anyone read or heard of confirming
reports of the sighting in West Virginia I reported yesterday???

Subject: A Current Affair Soviet UFO Story

Just watched the latest issue of "A Current Affair". What an
incredible piece of......well....garbage!! The highlight was an
interview by an "Alleged Soviet Official". Maury, you have an
excellent reason to hide your face, rub your head, and mug for the
camera having to front for trash like that "news" piece!! Where are
the real journalists, where are the American news correspondents? The
excuse of the story being behind the Iron Curtain just doesn't hold the
same strength as an excuse not to pursue the facts behind a story as it
once did....But then why was this story pumped up so much anyway...the
newsrelease from Tass contained much (all?) of the fantastic stuff that
the media played up as being additional info as the story unfolded.
Was this an effort to broadcast a UFO story that could be
systematically taken apart?......More on this topic, later...What's the
story on the Oklahoma sightings tonight???? I suppose there will be
very little news coverage since their "quotas" were probably filled
with the Soviet story.........BJB
