Jim! Keep up the skepticism! I will NEVER believe a confirmed report
from TASS until I see the video at 6!! Tall aliens with small heads?
Perhaps giraffes from the Moscow zoo!

There is an unconfired report of a UFO sighting in West Virginia last
night from an airliner at 32000 feet. Indianapolis ground control did
confirm a radar contact. Apparently, the governor of Indiana was on
the flight and also confirmed the sighting. This was heard second
hand! More direct confirmation is needed.

I saw it last night on CNN. I guess when they asked TASS about it they
backed up the story strongly. But I've seen nothing else on the news
about it. Keep us posted, PLEASE, Mike, if you hear anything else about
it. Strange that the firefighters would contradict the scientists,
though... will be watching for more...

I would usually disreguard a report like this, but TASS, which is the
'equivilent' of AP or UPI in the USSR, is backing the story. And at
least the SOVIETS had scientists on the scene.

CNN just stated that although Tass still stands behind its story
regarding the alien landing, the writer of the story has been
asked to recheck his facts. It has been stated that residents of
the area continue seeing Burgundy lights in the sky.

More follows...

The "rank and file" is the American public common which is the workers and contributors to the society. Reports about it coming from Canada have been interesting. That the Soviets are aware of the American viewpoint of aliens. It is should be considered why so much emphasis was put on a Soviet press release (in spite of what the more critical observer may think) on national network news here in the United States, when there is such a de-emphasis on wide release here in the US, outside of small scale stories that must be garnered out of hundreds of newspaper clippings. Although the Soviets may not have learned self-censorship, with their newfound freedoms, the United States is well aware of self-censorship, yet waived that for this particular story. Interesting... to say the least.

Well,
I liked the interview Don had published in UFO with Keel (Ive been a
fan of his for years) He sounded like he was pointing at "Fayrie Folk",
which again is cultural and folkloric. I have always liked J. Vallee's
theories also. As usual, we'll have to wait and see on this one!

Tass typically doesn't joke around, at least as far as I know Murdoch
doesn't pay the bills(yet).
A thought crossed my mind, though, recently, the Soviets were saying
that if we put star wars technology in place, a UFO passing
"innocently" by, could start the missles flying between USA and USSR by
mistake.
Perhaps it is to the Soviets advantage to promote the idea of UFO's to
help stop Star Wars.
