Since you are so close to the journalistic viewpoint, and know the influence the media has on people who watch the news, etc., followed the phenomenon for so long, to what degree or percentage do you think previous saturation to UFO related material may have shaped the way the average person reacted to the report? And why the formation of "instant" definition (in spite of lack of full verification, or how the journalist assessed the report) were made? I don't intend to pick this apart with you! <smile> But it is still interesting that although we have our own UFO's, the Soviets went and made headlines with their report, that stirred up the "pot" the way it did, while individuals such as yourself have been trying to get some type of reaction from the media with fair coverage here in the United States for so long (making reference to your surveys and etc.).
Just to add a little bit of humor to this, a "roving reporter" type CNN news clip asked different people if they belived in UFO's, and one individual reacted with this:
"It's a plan by the government to distract people from their problems."

Was fortunate enough to catch you on Larry King Thursday night. Unfortunately I only saw the last 10 minutes. But you were great! Professional, armed with facts you made an excellent presentation. It's unfortunate that you were opposed by Peter (whats-his-name). I can't think of anything good to say about him and some of the adjectives I like to use describing him I don't want to post here.
I hope you're invited back. I'd like to see and hear more of what you have to say. I hope if you do have prior knowledge you'll let us know about it.

Good point. From the new info I've seen, it's kind of a questionable
story since a giant apartment complex was only 200 yards away in full
view of the area and no adults reported anything...but anyway, there
HAS beenn a lot of new news coverage of UFOs. Last night, CNN on their
NewsNight 900 poll had the question 'Have you seen a UFO?'...loaded
question, dont you think? If you haven't seen one, would YOU call?
And I'm still surprised the NY Times and The Washington Post ran it
front page below the fold...

CNN also said (I should say Soviet Television) that no rumors of an
alien landing were in the area until AFTER the reporter talked to the
boys...THEN residents started to beilieve in the story...I should also
point out that every night the Soviets have a faith healer on who waves
his hands...it's watched by 200 million people...

By all means, I would say no. Actually, I got the impression
that there is something to MJ-12 that has been "linked" to the
Roswell Incident. However, Schmitt was careful to make sure that
there was no solid connection between what they are doing and
what Friedman is doing with his investigation into MJ-12. It is
quite possible that the MJ-12 affair, as mentioned, could have
been a disinformation campaign to get the Roswell case under
control and out of the public eye.

Thanks for the support. To tell you the truth, I enjoyed ol' Pete
whatshisname! Could not have come up with a better opponent. He is
another one of the "can't be for real, so it ain't!" kind of guy. Ol
Pat B. and he started to squirm, (so I was told, I did not have a
monitor to see them with) when I started hitting them with documented
facts. That is the biggest problem, no one for the most part IS AWARE
of what facts we do have. Well, will have to wait and see. Once more,

Hi everyone. I'm back after languishing in the outlands for three
weeks! You know, ParaNet's new telephone number isn't exactly common
knowledge out there ... And the message the phone company has put on
the old number isn't exactly helpful.
Just uploaded two files: TASS.TXT and TASSTRUE.TXT, both re: the
Voronezh UFO. I had an extended conversation with the Deputy Bureau
chief of TASS in New York as well as with an American intern there
about this, and will digest the material into a file for future
uploading.
Suffice to say for now that the Russians are very interested in the
political effect this press release is having here in the West.
Following on the heels of the Pravda column on "Why UFOs could trigger
Star Wars" -- and why the U.S. should drop the SDI immediately, before
the UFOs start WW III -- it makes for an interesting story.
Oh! A Russian friend of mine provided me with a little Russian proverb
about the city of Voronezh:
"Voronezh...hoi da gonezh!"
It means: Voronezh is full of sh*t.
Nice to be back, and I'll inform ParaNet Lambda and Viking Magick of
the new telephone number for the board!

Transcript from ABC T.V. "News in Brief" 22:30 hrs 13 October 1989.....
Was it or wasn't it a UFO? About 30 people reported sighting a large
orange cigar shaped object this morning over Elwood Beach. The only
physical evidence, a burnt patch of grass, which investigators say may
have been caused by a lawn mower.

On SBS TV tonight was a report on the Soviet printed media. It would
seem that since glalnost the Communist Party news paper has lost 2/3
rds of its readership. There is a violent competition for popular
readership of all the remaining news papers other than Pravda that is
bound by Party idealogy.
In the light of the Newspapers, like those in the West, chasing
circulation fiqures I would suspect that some distortion could come
about. That is not saying that there was not a sighting but what
people saw may have been distorted in many ways.
I once remembered reading that during an earthquake people often
experience illusionary images. This is posible cause through fear of
the unknown. I would therefore put it to you that this could be the
case in the current soviet sighting.
Tall gangly enterties would suggest comming from a planet with a much
lower gravity to that of the Earth, that such a planet would not
support and atmosphere and therefore no life as we know it would
exist.
It it did and they walked in a park on earth they would succumb to
earth gravity and not get up with any ease.
