Spicy Beef Stir-Fry with Shiitake Mushrooms and Celery
Ingredients:
- 8 oz sirloin beef, thinly sliced
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp oil (for marinade)
- 4 sticks celery, chopped
- 3 scallions, chopped
- 2 red chili peppers, chopped
- 6 shiitake mushrooms, soaked and sliced
- 1 Tbsp oil (for cooking)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- Pinch of white pepper powder
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions:
- Cut 8 oz of sirloin beef into thin slices. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp white pepper powder, 1 Tbsp cornstarch, and 1 Tbsp oil. Marinate the beef in this mixture for a few hours.
- Cut 4 sticks of celery, 3 scallions, and 2 red chili peppers into small pieces. Set aside.
- Soak 6 shiitake mushrooms in water until soft. Remove stems and cut into small pieces. Set aside.
- Heat 1 Tbsp of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Add the marinated beef and shiitake mushrooms. Stir-fry for a few minutes. Add the cut celery and red chili pepper. Continue to stir-fry.
- Add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 tsp of sugar, and a pinch of white pepper powder. Cook for another minute.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of chicken broth and mix well. Add a cornstarch-water mixture to thicken the sauce to your desired consistency.
- Add the cut scallions and 1 tsp of sesame oil. Stir well. Your Spicy Beef Stir-Fry with Shiitake Mushrooms and Celery is ready to be served. Enjoy!
