This issue:
News about the sale of Amiga Technologies to VIScorp continues to be
mostly non-existent. There have been some rumors, and some content-less
postings from VIScorp to the Usenet. That at least indicates talks
continue. The most amusing item we've heard has it that a creditor went on
vacation, forcing a delay. We doubt that, but anything is possible. We
suspect - on the basis of no facts at all other than the delay itself -
that the price for AT was too high compared to its value, and haggling
resulted. If we're right, we hope VIScorp does some good bargaining. The
Amiga community loses big if VIScorp pays too much and follows Commodore
and Escom into bankruptcy.
Those of you who read Fletcher Haug's excellent (in our prejudiced
opinion) newsletter "The Informer" will note a familiar name in the current
issue. "Workbench Extras" by Brad Webb premiers with Issue #4. We mention
it here for two reasons. First we're very proud to be associated with "The
Informer". Secondly, we want to ensure our "Amiga Update" readers that
this new column will in no way affect the publication of AU. E-mail to
eldritch@mhv.net will get you more information on "The Informer" or visit
by browser at http://www1.mhv.net/~eldritch .
We have a number of short items to send your way today. First, our
favorite web site, the Amiga Web Directory, was recently listed as "Site of
the Week" for technology. We bring you the text of the announcement from
the "Links of the Week" page.
There're some interesting events coming up in the video world. Amiga
dealer Safe Harbor pointed out to us they have a "NewTek Event" scheduled
for November. The text of their announcement is below. Contact them at
(414) 548-8120.
We have another video announcement, this one on the NewTek Video Toaster
User Expo in California, also in November. Details below.
Finally, the good folks in the venerable Atlanta users' group have made
available a video of their celebrated 10th anniversary meeting. They have
some other interesting Amiga related merchandise to entice you with. We're
seriously considering a "No Clone Zone" bumper sticker for our "dayjob"
cubicle which so far has remained PC free.
We hope you enjoy this issue.
Brad

Amiga Atlanta 10th Anniversary Banquet Videotape Now Available!
On Saturday, January 20th, 1996, Amiga Atlanta celebrated it's 10th
anniversary. The evening was a tremendous success with over 130 people in
attendance from all over North America and outstanding guest speakers such
as Jason Compton, Fred Fish, Dave Haynie, R.J. Mical, and others!
We have assembled a 2+ hour long videotape of the evenings events and
speakers and let me assure you this is a MUST have videotape for any Amiga
owner. The tape is professionally produced by AAi members that work in the
Atlanta broadcast television community and VHS copies are now available in
both NTSC and PAL standards, with discounts available for other Amiga
usergroups that would like to arrange a group purchase for there members.
Pricing and ordering details are available by contacting: Lamar Morgan,
AAi President at lamar@mindspring.com
Amiga Atlanta Bumper Stickers
Amiga Atlanta has three different types of bumper stickers that were
designed by members as part of a contest a few years ago. These bumper
stickers are printed in full color, and include such phrases as "No Clone
Zone- Amiga Computer Power Required," and "Don't Byte It- Computer Paradise
Is Amiga." Bumper stickers are sold individually for $2 US each, or in sets
of three for $5 US.
"No Clone Zone" and "Don't Byte It" were designed by Aaron Ruscetta, and
"Equation" was designed by Tony Kupersmith.
Amiga Atlanta Polo Shirts
In order to have an increased show of solidarity at each Spring COMDEX,
Amiga Atlanta had golf shirtsprinted with our logo screened onto the right
breast (a pocket is on the left breast). These black printing on white
shirts have sold very well, and are priced at $20 US for small, medium, and
large; Extra-sizes are $25 US.
Send check, money order, or eurocheck-equivalent in US funds along with
