An Angel's Love Chapter 1: "A Birth For All to See"
The ribbons withdrew from their target. Asuka screamed in pain as her Eva's arms were severed from it's body. Screaming with rage she charged the fourteenth angel in a desperate attack. The angel redrew a ribbon and shot in forward towards the Eva's head. From the inside of the main control room Misato Katsuragi screamed,
"Disable all of unit two's nerve connections now!" The ribbon continued forward towards it's target with speed enough to severe the head completely, but as suddenly as I had shot the ribbon forth, it buried it back into it's arm. Evangelion unit two continued forward and crashed head on into the massive angel, toppling it unto it's back. Asuka, having managed some focus since the nerve link to her Eva had been severed, looked out her view window into what best appeared to be the angels face. It seemed as though the creature was looking past her, into her mind.
"Stay out of my mind!!" Asuka screamed as she clutched her head in agony.
"We do not understand." came a voice from inside of her mind. It was a calm and relaxing voice. However Asuka was still in pain from the Angel's mind invasion. She yelled again,
"Stay out of my mind." Surprisingly the pain in her head let up and the voice spoke again.
"Ee seek understanding of you." As the voice finished Asuka saw a calm beach with the waves crashing quietly along the shore. She looked up and saw the outline of a figure, but it was difficult to determine it's shape for it seemed to be self luminating. The entity lowered itself to her eye level. She could see now that it was as tall as her. Though it's exact form still eluded her. It reached up and placed a hand onto her cheek. It's touch was warm and soothing. Asuka sighed gently upon it's contact with her skin, she could feel her mind slipping away when a loud crash was heard all around. The noise had snapped Asuka back into reality. Her Eva now lay on It's back as the purple Evangelion unit one battled with the fourteenth angel in front of her. The purple Eva charged the angel with it's percussion knife and stabbed the beast in it's red core. Sparks flew everywhere and in Asuka's mind the voice from before spoke to her. "We will understand you..." As soon as the voice finished talking the fourteenth angel erupted in a white flame. The flame then shot up into the sky and with a resounding cry, dove down towards Eva Unit two. Eva unit one ran forward to protect the wounded red Eva but it was one step behind. The whit flame smashed into Asuka's Eva and engulfed it , Then as suddenly as the white flame had appeared it had disappeared into Eva unit two.
Back in the control room everyone was in a panic to figure out what had happened. "What's the status of Unit two's pilot" Misato cried still in bewilderment at what had transpired.
"Condition unknown, entry plug transponders are detecting excess thought noise" the young man with glasses replied. "It's impossible to get clear data at this time.
"Well then get unit two back her immediately!!"
Outside a hospital room stood Shinji Ikari, most famous of all the Eva pilots, still In his flight suit from the day's battle. His mind wandering in thought,
If he hadn't decided to come back, He had no idea of what that angel would have done to her. He didn't know what had happened exactly, but Asuka had been in a coma since they removed her from her entry plug. Her condition had not changed for a week, everyone was worried her brain had been permanently damaged somehow. In his mind Shinji replayed the battle over and over, seeing how if he'd reacted sooner maybe he could have saved her, he felt it was his fault what happened to her. Finally after what seemed like hours to him he swallowed his fear and went in. Asuka lay on the bed staring into space. Shinji sat down on a chair by the bed and looked at her, lying there a brain less shell for all he knew.
"Your fault." came a voice.
Shinji cried out , "I did all I could."
the voice repeated, "Your fault, you interrupted the process."
"What process?"
"The process of understanding."
"Of understanding who."
"Of the Lillum called Asuka Langley Soryu."
"Why??"
"Yours is not to question our motive."
"What did you do to her!!!!!! What are you!?"
"We are what we choose to be."
Shinji woke up, apparently he had fallen asleep in the hospital room. But something didn't feel right. Like he was being watched. He spun around to catch a glimpse of whatever had been watching him. It was Rei Ayanami standing in her school uniform. "Oh it's just you Rei" Shinji said as he let out a sigh of relief. She looked at him in her expressionless way.
"Your fault" she said. Shinji gulped, for the voice that came out was not Rei's but the one from his mind earlier. "It is your fault" the voice repeated
"Stop it. What are you?" Shinji yelled at the thing impersonating Rei
"You will know soon enough" the fake Rei replied to Shinji as it faded from his sight into the shadows. Shinji looked down at the floor. What was happening to him. What was talking to him? Was he going insane? WAS what happened to Asuka his fault? What was going on?????
An Angels Love Chapter 2 "In the Mind's Eyes, the Dark Does Rise"
His fault. Was it his fault. Shinji Ikari thought as he lay on his bed staring at the ceiling. All day and all night he thought about what had happened to Asuka the day the fourteenth angel had attack. Shinji was worried about her. Had what the mysterious voice been right, had her current condition been her Fault? He replayed the battle again and again in his mind trying desperately to understand everything that had happened. Why the angel erupted into flames and seemed to absorb into Eva unit 2. Unfortunately, he was never told the current status of Asuka's Eva. The barely agreed to let him see her in the hospital. All of this thought was making Shinji hungry, so lethargically he rose form his bed and went to search for a snack. Shinji walked slowly staring at his own feet. In his failure to watch where he was going down the darkened hallway he banged into someone who must have been standing in front of him.
"Oh, hi Misato." he said in a slightly startled tone. Oddly though the normally talkative Misato remained silent, staring at the floor. She seemed totally out of it. "Uh, Misato, are you okay?" Shinji quietly asked as he nudged her shoulder. Strangely she swayed to the side slightly like something hanging from a string would. He nervously step forward, and form nowhere a bolt of lightning struck the ground outside, briefly Illuminating the inside of the dark apartment. What Shinji saw struck him through to the core all he could manage was a single gasp.
Calmness.
Peace.
Acceptance.
Love. These were what she wanted. She had felt them briefly, but now she felt only cold and alone. She hated being alone. Alone in a place lacking any form only endless dark. Alone she Asuka Langley Soryu, the second child floated. She curled her naked body as tightly into a ball as she could hoping to escape this void, This loneliness. She was crying. Why was she crying? She promised her self she would cry again. So why was she now?
"You must confront it to find what you seek." came a voice. She remembered it from her encounter with the angel earlier.
She replied in a tired saddened voice, "WHAT!!! What must I confront, and For what reason?"
The voice continued, "You must confront the darkness within your own soul in order to truly be happy." Asuka looked up with her tear soaked eyes to see the being of light from earlier, It was clearer though she could tell it was a boy,
young and with pale skin. But it was still too blurry to tell anything else.
"Who are you?" she asked with a sniffle.
"I am nothing until You will me into being. I am what you choose for me, but nothing I will be Until You confront the darkness inside yourself."
"But I don't want to confront that part of me, It's too painful!"
"Pain is a part of life Asuka, you must face or you will never find what you seek. And you shall spend your days alone in the darkness forever.
Shinji stepped back in horror. The brief flash of light Illuminated something her could not believe. Before him was Misato hanging from a rope with her throat slit. Her bare Remains covered in the dried blood that once was in her body.
"Your Fault!" the voice from his nightmare spoke. Instantly the room filled with fire and the corpse of Misato reach forward and grabbed his throat pressing hard. Behind Misato was Everyone He Knew Touji, Kensuke, Maya, Makoto, Father and even Rei. Their bodies mutilated as if by a wild beast. He stared at the corpse Choking him, Her eyes were white and soulless. He ominous voice continued speaking through Misato's dead body, "You will pay for what you have done. They shall soon be dead, all of them, and they will die by YOUR hand Shinji Ikari!!!"
Shinji awoke with a scream loud enough to wake the heavens, His body drenched in sweat. His face filled to the brim with fear. It was a dream, but it was to vivid, too real. He rose to a sitting position and looked at the wall. What was happening, was he losing his mind?
"Shinji?"
Shinji jumped a foot as Misato's voice to, She leaned against the door shadowed from a light behind her. Seeing this his mind flashed back to the nightmare.
"Don't come near me!" he cried as he drew back away towards the wall. "Leave me alone." Misato,surprised by his reaction backed out of his room and left.
Ritsuko said nothing as she listened to Misato tell of incidents the night before. She simply stared at Misato with an inquisitive look on her face. Misato continued,
"The way he looked at me. I've seen so much fear on his face, like he had done something horrible, too horrible to say."
"Maybe he still blames himself for what happened to The second child," Ritsuko replied.
"I Guess your right. But why did he want me to keep away from him?"
"He might fear you'll get hurt like Asuka did if your near him.Shinji can be very harsh on himself." Ritsuko paused as she reached into a suitcase and removed a folder from it. "Here, this is the latest data on Asuka's condition."
Misato picked the folder up and commenced reading it. "So, you still have no idea what happened to her?"
"Mentally no, but as for Physically..." She handed Misato a small paper from her lab coat.
"Your kidding me, how can this be?" Misato said in surprise at what was written on the paper.
Shinji walked into the kitchen of the apartment. Normal at this time he would be at school but Misato felt he should stay home. He searched the drawers for a fork to eat his half cooked TV dinner. Upon finding the right drawer he withdrew a fork. He stared at it for awhile. It seemed to speak to him. (Do it) came a voice in the back of his head. "NO!!" he screamed and he slammed the fork hard into the table. He now felt a strange sensation in his other arm. Shinji looked down at the fork he had stabbed into his other hand. And he looked at the blue liquid seeping out of the hand, a strange smile crossing his face. It had began.
An Angels Love Chapter 3: "The Lines of Battle is Drawn in the Blood of Loves Lost"
Shinji Ikari third child and pilot of Eva unit two, had gone insane.the traumas of his life had finally caught up with him. The battle with the fourteenth angel merely pushed him over the edge. he still stood in the kitchen staring at his impaled hand. he removed the fork slowly savoring each painful tug. His eyes lost all heart and compassion. he slowly moved too the door and waited.
Misato had a very concerned look upon her face as she walked to her apartment. she walked up to the door and slowly began to open it when...
Her cell phone rang. she answered it with her usual hello. it was Ritsuko and she needed to see her Immediately. so she closed the door and went back to NERV headquarters.
Shinji cursed to himself. what rotten luck he had. He almost had her here.
"Shinji" came the voice in his mind.
"The name to which I am known." He replied in his now deranged voice."
"It is time Lillum, come to me. come and be one with me."
"Two become one, all is gone. right" He asked to the voice only he could hear.
"in due time, my Shinji" it said to him. He ran out of the Apartment towards NERV's main building, laughing insanely all the way
Misato walked into the hospital room where Asuka Langley Soryu, second child of the Eva project, was recuperating from battle injuries. But to her shock, no one was there save for Ritsuko. "How the hell did she get out?" Misato yelled, completely perplexed at the situation. Ritsuko turned to her with deeply concerned look on her face. she simply point to the ceiling. or at least where the ceiling used to be. there now existed only an immense hole which had been burned through. She stared up in total disbelief. "You mean she, she..."
"Matured out of her Chrysalis state." Ritsuko finished her friends sentence. "I'm afraid so. The second child has now been classified as the fifteenth angel."
Misato, still staring upwards into the sky could only utter, "then god help us all."
inside the mind of the entity once known as Asuka Langley Soryu, now called by some the fifteenth angel, she still floated in the sea of darkness alone save for the being of light, Its features more clear to her now, she could make out it's brown hair and eyes, it's slightly tanned skin, It looked familiar. she looked at it and again asked,
"What are you??"
"I am what you make me" it replied in it's soothing male voice. She stared at it and it's shape changed, the calming creature had changed into an evil parody of the earlier form.
" Asuka, Join me," it said in it's cruel tone. "Join me, become one with me DIE with me" it called to her.
"NO!!!" she screamed trying to block it out "why are you doing this to me?" she cried out to it the tears flowing from her weary face.
"Because you cannot face yourself" it said in the demonic tone. then it appeared to revert to it's kinder form. "you will me into that self, instead of this" it moved in slowly, placing it's hand on her cheek. then it whispered, "I am what you make me, and your mind sees me two ways, this way..." its said then drew slightly back, shifting into it's dark form, "and you see me as this. I cannot be a paradox. You must choose one when the time comes." Upon finishing the sentence the entity of light moved in and gently kissed Asuka on the lips.
she opened her eyes to find she was on top of one of Tokyo-3's many high rises. She gazed at the panorama of color before her but was thinking of what the entity said "I cannot be a Paradox. You must choose one when the time comes" she wasn't completely sure what it meant but she had an idea. She decide to sit and think for awhile on the roof, but something about what was going on scared her.
Misato and Ritsuko returned to nerve to find most of the place trashed, Countless people lay strewn about, some cowering some passed out. Misato ran to Maya Ibuki, Ritsuko's protegee and one of NERV technical elite. She could only manage a frightened yelp of, "Shinji" before she to passed out in fright.
now Misato was truly confused. how could Shinji cause this much damage to NERV head quarters. she simply fell to her knees in front of Maya.
Shinji ran hurriedly down the streets, he knew his target now he could sense it, He ran through countless of nameless streets and stopped in front of one particularly large building. walked in and waited for the elevator, and went to the top floor. the elevator opened and he step out walked forward, and quietly said, "hello Asuka."
hey all sorry for the hiatus between three and four but i'm back on track at east for a while anyways.
An Angels Love - Chapter 4 of what dreams may come the nightmares of your souls
Asuka turned towards Shinji Ikari as he strode out of the buildings elevator doors. he looked like he always did dressed in the same shirt and pants he always wore yet something wasn't the same about him. "Shinji, why are you up here?" she asked him.
funny I was just about to ask you the same thing." was his response. his voice was quiet and worn as if he had been exhausted from some sort of strenuous activity. he continued to walk to her and he sat down beside her on the ledge. "You must be cold up here in the hospital gown." He said staring at her face. she looked up at him. odd she always thought his eyes were a light brown, but apparently they were a deep blue. she the noticed the dried stab holes in one of his hands.
how did you get that?" Asuka asked him.
I don't want to say."
Fine." she muttered, angered by his unwillingness to answer her question. he looked at her again and asked softly
Asuka how did you get up here?" normally Asuka would have yelled something at him, smacked him or just got up and left from frustration. but everything that had been occurring had broken down most of Asuka's mental shields not all of them but enough that Asuka Langley Soryu, second child of the Evangelion project did something she swore she would never do.
she cried.
Oh Shinji I don't know I.." she burst out in a tear filled voice as she clung unto him. she then commenced to tell him everything she could recall since her encounter with the fourteenth angel. Shinji was unsure of exactly what to do but listened quietly as she told of all the visions and nightmare she had. Asuka buried her face in his shoulder and kept talking between sobs. Every pent up emotion she had she was telling to him. the flood gates had been opened, and they couldn't be closed now. Eventually she stopped talking and just stayed there in Shinji's arms, crying. evening was approaching, but neither one moved from their spot on the roof
elsewhere in Tokyo-3 the entire NERV staff had begun a mass deployment around the area. While their radar could easily spot a building sized angel, finding one the size of a human was another matter altogether.
I just don't get it." Misato commented to the people in the board room. Doctor Ritsuko, Gendo, Kaji, and Fuyutski the only members of NERV not in medical care or out looking for Asuka.
How could Asuka have been an angel all this time?" No one cared to respond.
you mean all of you knew why the hell wasn't I informed of this beforehand." Gendo sat in his chair as he always did with his dark glasses concealing his eyes.
you were told everything that you needed to know." he replied. "This knowledge wasn't necessary for you to complete you assigned job Katsuragi."
that doesn't matter know. the task at hand is to locate the fifteenth angel" Ritsuko continued for Gendo.
and destroy her right. after all that is what you do best." Misato griped under her breath.
so does this mean that Shinji and Rei are also..."
Angels. you are half right all children who are able to pilot the Evas are at least Part angel. however some are more angel than others. That was why Unit three went mad. because the pilot entered chrysalis during the test. the strain snapped most of his logic sensors and caused him to flip out so to speak." Fuyutski interjected "people I'm sorry to interrupt but we've received word that beta team has located the on the top of the Otakutech build in the eastern sector. I suggest you all get the quickly before it gets out of hand"
but commander we can't kill her!!" Misato begged " she is a person and one of us "
you have your orders captain Katsuragi"
yes sir" everyone then proceeded to leave the office save Gendo and his associate.
Gendo this isn't part of the plan." Fuyutski whispered to Gendo
i know" he replied. His rage was building. he couldn't stand setbacks. this was too odd to be a random instance. "damn it Yui what have you done."
