Asian Style Steak with Potatoes
Ingredients for Marinating:
- 8 oz New York strip steak, cut into long strips
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp oil (for marinating)
Ingredients for Cooking:
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 4 cups skinless potatoes, cut into long thin strips
- 1 Tbsp oil (for cooking)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp cooking wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions:
- In a bowl, marinate the steak strips with 1 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of black pepper, 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of cornstarch, and 1 Tbsp of oil. Allow the beef to marinate for a few hours.
- Slice the mushrooms and cut the skinless potatoes into long, thin strips.
- In a medium heat cooking pan, add 1 Tbsp of oil and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic. Sauté for about a minute.
- Add the marinated steak to the pan and sear it until it turns light brown, which should take around 2-3 minutes. Once done, remove the steak from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same cooking pan, add another 1 Tbsp of oil, then introduce the cut potatoes and mushrooms.
- Continue to cook for 5-7 minutes until the potatoes turn soft. At this point, add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp of cooking wine, and 1 tsp of sugar.
- Reintroduce the seared steak and mix it well with the potatoes, then stir-fry for an additional minute.
- Finish by adding 1 tsp of sesame oil, and your Asian-style steak with potatoes is now ready to serve. Enjoy!
