Slow-Cooked Honey Baked Spare Ribs
Slow-Cooked Honey Baked Spare Ribs
Ingredients:
- 3-4 pounds of spare ribs
- 2 cups honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- If the ribs have a membrane on the back, remove it to ensure better flavor absorption. You can do this by gently loosening it with a knife or your fingers and then pulling it off.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create your spice rub.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the spare ribs, making sure to coat them evenly. Allow the ribs to marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Place the seasoned ribs on a roasting pan lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs with another layer of foil to create a tight seal.
- Put the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 2.5 hours. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the ribs.
- After slow-cooking the ribs, remove them from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 350°F (190°C). Uncover the ribs and brush them generously with honey.
- Place the ribs back in the oven and bake, uncovered, for an additional 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on them during this step to avoid burning the sauce.
- Once the ribs are done baking, let them rest for a few minutes before cutting and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute within the meat.
