Braised Short Ribs
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of beef short ribs
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1.5 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1.5 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon cooking wine
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 3 large slices of ginger
- 4 star anises
- 1 tablespoon peppercorns
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 2 cups water
Instructions:
- Place a cooking pot over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the beef short ribs to the pot.
- Sear the meat on all sides until it achieves a beautiful golden brown color.
- Add 1.5 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1.5 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of cooking wine, and 1 teaspoon of dark soy sauce to the pot.
- Add 3 large slices of ginger, 4 star anises, 1 tablespoon of peppercorns, 3 bay leaves, and 1 small cinnamon stick.
- Pour in 2 cups of water to enhance the flavors and create a savory braising liquid.
- Close the lid of the pot and reduce the heat to low.
- Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 2 hours, ensuring the ribs are fully submerged in the liquid.
- Halfway through the cooking time, carefully flip the ribs over to ensure even braising.
- After the braising time is complete, the beef short ribs should be tender and infused with the flavorful broth.
- Remove the pot from the heat and take out the star anises, bay leaves, peppercorns, ginger slices, and cinnamon stick.
- Your delicious Braised Beef Short Ribs are now ready to be enjoyed.
