The lost civilization
There is a compelling theory, deduced by Sitchin following a new interpretation of the Texts of the Pyramids and other Egyptian myths and taken up by Alan Alford, which considers Atlantis as an exploded planet and not a lost continent.
According to Sitchin, the Egyptians would have lived alongside the Annunaki, a race possessing high space technology. This alien race allegedly built a space center in Sinai, in the land of Dilmun, the land of rockets, and two Pyramids in Giza as landmarks in air navigation.
Baalbek, in Lebanon, would have been their control center, a point of reference along the so-called "flight corridors" mentioned by Sitchin himself.
In the book "The Twelfth Planet" and the Babylonian epic "Enuma Elish", a planetary battle is described.
According to Egyptian beliefs, Seth would appear as a planet that comes from the depths of space to meet one of the planets inside the solar system.
This celestial body also called Nibiru, identified by the Babylonians in Marduk, in its path around the Sun in the opposite direction to that of the other planets impacts several times with Tiamat, a planet located between Jupiter and Mars, the planet of Waters, the Great Dragon. The collision is violent and the planet is split in two. With one part it forms the Earth by placing it in an orbit closer to the Sun; crumbles the other originating the asteroid belt.
The Babylonian Enuma Elish elaborated by Zacaria Sitchin is found in the verses of the book of genesis which describe how the wind of the Lord blew over the waters of Theon, the abyss of waters and how the thunderbolt of the Lord (in Babylonian Marduk) illuminated the darkness of space when it struck Tiamat creating the Earth and the "Rakia", a word which literally means "hammered bracelet", also called Heaven, or rather Shamaim (Genesis 1,8). The Earth had a new orbit around the Sun, the seasons and axial rotation were created, establishing day and night.
It is the description of a natural cosmic event not an intentional divine creation. We can safely discuss whether everything falls within the laws that govern the entire universe, but we cannot speak of a superior entity who decides and arranges things as he pleases to reward or punish. One can speak of a "Force", creative or destructive, a Creative Energy that controls the universe, but the rational mind understands a physical force.
After having ascertained that the ancient peoples adored the Sun as the supreme deity, we must conclude that a cosmic event may have been told by personifying the planets involved in the phenomenon by divinizing them. So Marduk is the name given to the King of Kings, the God of Gods, but we do not know what his real name was. The same goes for Tiamat and the people who certainly lived there.
The collision of the planets, which brings Velikovsky's theory to mind, becomes a popular saga, a myth, from which humanity originates; the modified version of a memory of a people forced to flee their original place, which they then pass on to posterity by building an entire system of beliefs that will influence their entire existence over the centuries.
Nonetheless, the scholar reported the discovery of palm trees in Greenland, corals in Alaska, non-fossilized bones of hippopotamuses in England, remains of polar bears and arctic seals crushed together in a shapeless mass with oysters and crocodiles.
It seems as a result of a catastrophe that occurred thousands and thousands of years ago, when the level of the oceans suddenly dropped and then rose again by many meters, violently altering the climate, extinguishing entire civilizations by drowning them.
So Velikovsky, in "Worlds Colliding", offers evidence of tremendous cataclysms that occurred during prehistory. An event that took place in a remote time, perhaps too much to be remembered exactly.
But just as it may have been a natural event, regulated by the laws of the universe, it may also have been a war event, a cosmic war between planets, giving shape and consistency to that "Sky War" mentioned in the sacred texts of many peoples. The war between the heavenly hosts of good and evil. Two planets fighting for domination of a part of the sky; employing a terrible technology of death that causes destruction, not only of the planets involved in the conflict, but also of the neighboring ones.
One of the planets involved may have been Mars, where life appears to have existed in the distant past. At least from what is documented by the photos taken by the probes. The thing becomes intriguing, fascinating and quite believable. At least it would explain some mysteries and some events whose memory is handed down in the form of myth or legend.
There seems to be no shortage of physical evidence of a possible explosion due to colliding worlds to confirm these theses. In the Libyan desert there are an infinity of dark pebbles, indicated as the remains of a meteor shower that occurred in the past.
The fall of meteors in the Sahara area, three considerable pieces accompanied by a swarm of smaller specimens, would have produced the evaporation of the great inland sea transforming the area into the current desert.
Satellite surveys from Columbia in 1981 showed buried river beds of considerable size in the territories of Sudan and Egypt, highlighting that thousands of years ago the area was rich in forests, pastures and land suitable for advanced agriculture. The rivers flowed into a large internal basin, as vast as the Caspian Sea on whose shores Libya, Chad, Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia overlooked. A thriving area, populated by men and animals, supplied with water, subject to frequent rainfall, at least until ten thousand years ago, when the Sahara desert and Egyptian civilization came to life.
Through the ancient scriptures Sitchin would have found other evidence regarding the occurrence of the event that gave birth to the desert.
One of the few astronomers convinced that an invading planet altered our solar system by destroying two planets and a moon, the remnants of which gave birth to the asteroid belt, is Tom Van Flandern. The formation of the belt remains a mystery that has given rise to many theories.
Johann Bode, an astronomer of the 1700s, based on an elaborate mathematical formula to determine the distances of the planets from the Sun, deduced that there must have been another planet between Mars and Jupiter, right where the asteroid belt is now.
According to Bode, the planet exploded for unknown reasons, but may have collided with a huge asteroid.
Here a second theory can come in handy, the one proposed by Immanuel Velikovsky, also described in "Worlds colliding". He established a connection between the disasters and catastrophes that occurred on our planet with the appearance of the planet Venus. This "planet" would in fact have arrived at a later time in our solar system, invading it like a comet and also causing changes on Earth, causing sudden climatic changes and cataclysms. Indeed ancient documents present Venus as a recent planet, not as old as the solar system; it is described as a horned star, or tail, characteristic of a comet.
In Mesopotamia and Central America, Venus is not included among the nine known planets; in the documents it is spoken of as a wandering star in the sky, which inspires terror and to which sacrifices are offered. It is described as a threat and time periods are counted referring to its passage. It is thus discovered that it completes its journey around the Sun in forty years, forming a five-pointed star in the sky. At the end of its strange journey, Venus will occupy the same position with respect to the Sun as it did forty years earlier, with a difference of ten days.
A fact that has influenced the calendar of many ancient populations. The electromagnetic contact of Venus with the Earth would have caused a shift of the orbit, of the magnetic axis, altered the course of the seasons, caused colossal tidal waves and earthquakes causing the sinking of vast regions due to fractures in the tectonic platform.
An apocalypse also described in the Bible and in other sacred books of the ancient peoples who populated the planet and kept alive the memory of such tragedies.
But that's not all, according to this theory, after touching the Earth and before settling on its current orbit, Venus collided with Mars, altering its path and upsetting its surface and climate.
Velikovsky's hypothesis was mocked and attacked by official science, only Einstein maintained an open attitude towards it, perhaps because not everything the writer had asserted was wrong; today, in fact, we can see it.
Without having the means to establish it, Velikovsky calculated the temperature of Venus over 400°, as it actually is. Through the Mariner 10 probe it was also ascertained that the "planet" has traces similar to those present in the tails of comets; it also rotates in the opposite direction to the other planets, as Velikovsky argued.
Argo and Neon, mentioned in "Worlds Colliding", were detected on Mars and the Martian surface underwent a sudden change from what it was initially.
The most recent evidence is the discovery of a large mass of water ice under about two feet of the surface of the poles.
From these theories, to the myths and legends of peoples, to the disappearance of an oceanic continent, to the extinction of life on a distant planet like Mars, to a forced migration to another planet with similar characteristics, to a huge cosmic catastrophe, the step is short and everything becomes possible.
Let's go back to Zacaria Sitchin's theory. A new interpretation of the saga of Osiris dismembered by Seth and the remains of his body scattered and buried throughout Egypt provides the suggestion that Osiris was an exploded planet whose fragments struck the Earth.
The myth has it that Osiris fell into the fire and split the Earth by infiltrating the depths.
Osiris, in the Pyramid Texts, was placed in the marshy abyss of space and it is written that, when the planets exploded, a deluge of water fell on the earth. Just as mentioned in the genesis: "the water of the flood fell on the Earth from an opening of the heavens". Referring to the Enuma Elish we see Tiamat's water flooding the heavens. In the Coffin Texts it is written: "This is the sealed thing which contains the stream of Osiris. It is placed in Rostau; hidden since its fall, it is what fell from him upon the desert sand. "Easily connectable to the stone preserved in Abydos, to the Ben Ben kept in Heliopolis. Basically a conical meteorite.
From what Alan Alford writes for the Egyptians the catastrophic act was known as "the day of the killing of the ancient One" (of one of the ancients) a day in which numerous Gods were beheaded and ascended to heaven, when this was separated from land and "there was a loud cry and a fire of light."
All creative metaphors referring to an explosion of planets that occurred tens of millions of years ago that the Egyptians called "First Time", the "Zep Tepi".
Alan Alford wonders what could have inspired these references to a planetary homeland in the eastern side of the sky, where the ascendant king would reign over the Ennead of nine Gods, from a throne made of iron.
The answer could emerge from the legendary battle between Seth and Orus which, for Egyptologists, is a reminder of war in the Nile valley, while for Alford, it takes place in the sky or in the waters of space and can be placed in the "first time", and relates to Van Flanders' intruder planet theory.
Controversial theory and not accepted by the majority of modern astronomers as there is physical evidence of the existence of a great civilization located on an island in the middle of the Atlantic. Perhaps disappeared due to the invasion of Venus, but it could also be just the previous civilization that populated the Earth at the time of the catastrophe, and it is not certain that it was called Atlantis.
Plato's account describes an earthly cataclysm that causes a land to sink into the ocean and is followed by an earthquake and a flood.
The Egyptians used the word "island" as a metaphor for "planet", so the ocean becomes the space of water in which the first worlds emerged when time began. Consequently the planets become "islands" floating in the cosmic waters.
So was "Atlantis" an exploded planet?
We recall the theories that speak of the fall of the Moon on Earth due to the disappearance of Atlantis.
Denis Saurat and HS Bellamy are the proponents of a theory derived from Horbiger's deductions according to which the Moon would not be the first satellite of the Earth, but there would have been many moons, one for each geological period. There would have been geological periods distinct from others because at the end of each period a satellite would have fallen to the Earth.
The Moon would not describe a closed ellipse around the Earth, but a spiral that is shrinking and that will eventually make it fall on our planet.
A confirmation could come from Sir George Darwin astronomer, son of the famous naturalist; he states that our satellite is doomed to perish in a disastrous cataclysm:
"Once near the Earth it will begin to crumble forming a ring similar to that of Saturn, a part of the fragments will fall on the Earth as a shower of meteors. There will be earthquakes, disastrous tidal waves. Volcanoes will explode, some areas will be submerged by the seas. At best, few will survive and will find themselves fighting against the surviving animals, or monsters created as a result of environmental changes."
If indeed other moons existed in the past, as some suggest, the spectacle of their fall and destruction must not have been very different from that described by Darwin; for someone it has already been exposed in the Apocalypse of Saint John (IV 12,14).
According to Saurat everything would have already happened.
Myths, legends, discoveries and rigorous scientific deductions would contribute to confirming these events.
The road that leads to the truth is a path immersed in darkness, where man proceeds gropingly, feeling inch by inch in order to identify the things he encounters in his progress. That theory comes to mind which indicates the presence of numerous eyes located on our skin, which allow us to see even when the eyes are closed, using the properties of the mind. The ability to reason allows us to sift and approach the flame of truth.
History tells us that man has never thought of divulging knowledge for fear of losing power.
Just one example: Alonso Pinzon found detailed information on the land of the New World in the texts contained in the library of Pope Innocent VIII.Documents that he brought with him and consulted with Christopher Columbus, owner of the project which contemplated an expedition aimed at discovering those lands.
So someone has always known and denied the truth.
Plato wrote that Zeus decided to punish humanity because it was degenerate, narrow-minded and taken by the lust for power. The saddest thing is that since then, after all these centuries, nothing seems to have changed.
The truth is a road ruined by the destruction of ancient documents, essential for tracing human history, and by the hypocritical censorship imposed by religions.
If God is knowledge, knowing means approaching God.
The caliph ordered Amru to burn the volumes of the library of Alexandria as the Koran was sufficient and there was no need for permissive and harmful books. On the other hand, Christian fanatics burned ancient libraries during the Middle Ages. Spanish bishop Diego de Landa burned Mayan documents because they were considered the work of the Evil One. If the ancient works had not been destroyed or hidden, today we would certainly have references to Atlantis and the road to the truth would be clearer. But the story and the truth are not hidden for long, nor are they buried.
The ancient inscriptions, the monuments themselves, the stones, including those still under the ocean, tell of an ancient people and of lost and partly rediscovered knowledge. They tell a story older than the one disclosed; mathematical and astronomical knowledge known for thousands of years, concepts and cosmic phenomena resurface, rediscovered only in the last four hundred years, which have influenced modern science and dictated the rules of life of a society that appears thousands and thousands of years older.
The "snake stones" at Dendera, for example, together with many other finds, light up part of the road that leads to truth; still very long and full of questions that require certain answers but which, unfortunately, none of us is able to provide. At least for now.
