The casket with bracelets of Hetepheres I
The only jewels of Hetepheres I that have escaped the appetites of thieves are some bright silver bracelets, carved from a single sheet of metal curved and open inside. The semi-precious stones are set in the alveoli made on the surface according to the champlevé technique and reproduce the vivacity of four butterflies with outstretched wings with happy chromatic effects. Originally there were twenty bracelets, divided into two rows of ten and inserted into the central cylinders of a box.
On the lid, on the sides of the knob, the are the inscriptions:
"Box containing bracelets"
and
"Mother of the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Hetepheres"
and the further clarification:
"bracelets"
is written in ink.
