Steamed Pork Ribs with Garlic and Fermented Black Bean (蒜蓉豆豉蒸排骨)

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds pork ribs
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fermented black bean (aka. Douchi)
  • 1 tablespoons garlic soy bean paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 fresh Thai red chili peppers
  • Scallions or cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, combine the pork ribs, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 tablespoon black bean, 2 tablespoons garlic soy bean paste, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, and 2 tablespoons oil.
  • Mix the marinade thoroughly, ensuring the pork ribs are well-coated. Allow the pork ribs to marinate for a few hours to enhance the flavors.
  • Arrange the marinated pork ribs in a steaming dish.
  • Sprinkle the chopped Thai red chili peppers over the pork ribs for an extra kick of flavor and heat.
  • Steam the pork ribs at high heat for 13-15 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and tender. Once steamed, remove the dish from the steamer.
  • Garnish the steamed pork ribs with a sprinkle of fresh scallions for a burst of freshness.
