Ingredients:

  • 5 pounds beef short ribs
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cooking wine
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons minced ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions:

  • In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, cooking wine, sugar, white pepper powder, minced garlic, and minced ginger to create a marinade.
  • Gradually whisk in the cornstarch to thicken the marinade slightly.
  • Drizzle in the cooking oil and mix well to combine all the marinade ingredients.
  • Place the beef short ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a marinating container.
  • Pour the prepared marinade over the ribs, ensuring each piece is coated evenly.
  • Seal the bag or cover the container and refrigerate for a few hours, allowing the flavors to infuse into the meat.
  • Preheat your griddle to low heat, ensuring it's well-oiled to prevent sticking.
  • Remove the marinated short ribs from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Carefully place the marinated short ribs on the preheated griddle.
  • Grill the short ribs on low heat, turning occasionally, until they reach a medium internal temperature, ensuring they are cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  • Increase the heat to high for the final minutes of cooking to achieve a delightful outer sear, creating a slightly charred and caramelized exterior.
