Spicy Sautéed Chicken with Tofu
Marinade Ingredients:
- 1 chicken breast, cut into medium-size slices
- 1 tsp salt
- Pinch of white pepper powder
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 Tbsp oil
Cooking Ingredients:
- 2 cups green cabbage, cut into small pieces
- 1 box of medium-firm tofu, cut into pieces
- 2 Tbsp oil (for pan-frying and cooking)
- 4-5 pieces dry red chili pepper
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp chili oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
- Cornstarch mixed with water (for thickening)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions:
- In a bowl, season the chicken slices with 1 tsp of salt, a pinch of white pepper powder, and the mixture of 1 Tbsp cornstarch and 1 Tbsp water. Add 1 Tbsp of oil and mix well. Let the chicken marinate for a few hours.
- Cut the green cabbage into small pieces and set aside.
- Cut the medium-firm tofu into pieces and use paper towels to absorb excess water. Set aside.
- Heat a cooking pan over medium heat with 2 Tbsp of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu pieces and pan-fry until they turn golden brown on both sides. Remove the tofu from the pan and set it aside.
- In the same cooking pan, add 4-5 pieces of dry red chili pepper and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic.
- Add the marinated chicken slices and stir-fry for a few minutes until they start to cook. Then add the cut green cabbage.
- Pour in 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of dark soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, and 1 tsp of chili oil. Mix the sauces well with the ingredients.
- Once the sauces are evenly mixed, add 1 cup of chicken broth and the previously pan-fried tofu to the pan.
- Continue cooking for a few more minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Then add a mixture of cornstarch and water to thicken the sauce to your desired consistency.
- Finish by adding 1 tsp of sesame oil for added flavor.
- Your flavorful Spicy Chicken and Tofu Stir-Fry is now ready to be served.
