Did giant humans ever walk the earth?
Of the Giants is spoken of in every ancient text: beings similar to humans but of enormous size.
There are persons who believe they were ancient gods who visit our planet from space. Others believe they were a race of humanoids now extinct.
In modern times the myth of the Giants is considered little more than a legend.
I will present some important newspaper articles that reported incredible discoveries that today no one talks about anymore. During the 19th century many reports were published of discoveries of strangely large human skeletons found in ancient tombs all over the world and especially in North America.
Today no media mentions any more discoveries about giants and many scientist believe that giant skeletons are still being discovered around the world, quickly classified and hidden. This was not the case in the early 20th century as almost every year there was at least one article announcing the discovery of the skeleton of a new giant.
Indeed it seemed almost natural in the United States to find bones of giants when early settlers began digging up old burial mounds to build farms and city streets. The New York Times in particular wrote in numerous articles about these discoveries so now let's read some of them.
One of this articles says that a skull of staggering size and with a singular shape was found among the relics of the mound builders in the valley of the red river. The Mound was at 19 wide meters and 4 meters high. Toward the center were found the bones of a dozen Men and Women mixed with the bones of various animals. The Skull in question was the only skull in perfect condition and near it were also discovered some incredibly large bones. The man who possessed them must evidently have been a giant. A more thorough investigation of the mound and its contents will be made by the Hystorical Society.
Another article, also published in the New York Times says instead that last week a small Tumulus near Homer was opened by some Schoolmen who found a skeleton. Recently a further investigation was made and several feet below ground in a large room with stone floor and bark were discovered four huge skeletons, 3 of them exceeded two meters in height and the last one reached almost two and a half meters.
The following article was published in the San Antonio Express and talks about a giant skull twice the size of that of a normal human. It also shows a picture. The article reads a giant skull was of suttered by WPA workers near Victoria. It is believed to be the largest ever found in the world. Discovered on a Texas beach near Victoria County in a large ancient Tumulus thought to be the largest human skull ever found in the U.S. and probably in the entire world, twice as large as the skull of a normal human. The remains were unearthed by WWE an archaeologist who was studying the Tumulus for a WPA project and sponsored by the University of Texas.
In the same Tumulus and at the same depth was also found a skull of normal size. The fragments collected in the Mound were reconstructed in the laboratory under the supervision of physical anthropologists. A study is currently underway to determine whether the skull may belong to a tribe of extraordinarily large human beings or is it just the skull of a man with some abnormality, perhaps affected by gigantism, since several gigantic human bones have also been found in the same site.
Another New York Times article dating back to 1897 states one of the three mounds recently discovered at Mapole Creek was opened and inside was found the skeleton of a man of gigantic size. The bones measured from head to toe almost 3 meters and were in a fair state of preservation. The skull had a volume of 15 liters.
Next to the body were found some objects made of copper and other relics.
The Mound from which such things were recovered is 3 meters high and 10 meters wide; the other two mounds will soon be excavated as well.
The next article comes instead from the Saint Paul Globe and dates back to January 1904.
The bones of a human skeleton three meters and 30 high were unearthed in Nevada.
Workers engaged in gravel excavation accidentally encountered a 4-meter deep cavity that contained many bones and parts of the skeleton of a giant. Dr. Samuels examined them and said they were the bones of a man who must have been more than three meters tall.
It seems as if these discoveries were something normal in the past and were not mystified as is done today.
Discoveries of giant skeletons were not limited only to North America.
The next article talks about giant skeletons found in a cave in Mexico the article reads Charles C. Clupp recently returned from Mexico was in charge of the Thomas full Lawson mine which drew the interest of professor Agassiz in making a remarkable discovery.
He found in Mexico a cave containing the skeletons of 200 men all over eight feet in height. The cave was evidently the burial place of a race of giants which probably preceded the Aztecs.
Mister Clupp arranged the bones of one of these skeletons and discovered that it measured more than eight feet in height.
Other articles however mention the discovery of giants, even in Europe.
This 1892 article published in the London Globe tells of the discovery of a girl of giants in France in the year 1890. Some Ottomans of enormous size twice the size of a normal human being were found in the tomb of Castelnovo and were carefully examined by the professor Kioner, who, also admitting that the bones belong to a very tall race, they seem to be abnormal in size perhaps due to overgrowth
The discovery inevitably reopened the question about ancient giants but this is not conclusive evidence.
Actually, there are discoveries of bones of giants in every corner of the world and today scientists and archaeologists pretend that nothing ever happened.
This article for example entitled When giants roamed earth talks about the discovery of giants dating back to the roman empire. It says that the past has been much more prolific in the creation of giants than the present. In 1830 one of these giants was exhibited in Rom. It was 3 meters tall. The giant Galabra is transported by rage to Rome in the time of Claudius Caesar. Fannum instead lived in the time of Eugenius II and was more than 3 meters tall. The knight scrog on his journey to the summit of Tenerife. He found in a cave of the mountain the head of a giant who had 60 teeth and was more than 4 and a half meters tall. The giant fergus was killed by Orlando grandson of Charlemagne who according to the accounts of the time was more than 8 meters tall.
In 1816 near San Gerardo was found the tomb of the giant xolent who was no less than 9 meters tall.
In 1590 near Rouem was found a skeleton whose skull had a volume of 9 liters and was more than 5 meters high and in 1623 near the Shadow Finn was found a grave 10 meters long five meters wide and 3 meters high in which there was a stone on which was engraved the word Kentolocus Rex.
The skeleton was found whole and measured almost 8 meters.
But France is not the only European country in which Giants have been found.
Near Palermo in Sicily (Italy) in 1516 the skeleton of a giant nine meters high was discovered and near the village of Magrino, also in Sicily, in 1816 the skeleton of a giant 10 m high was found whose head was the size of a barrel and each tooth weighed at least 150 grams.
Even though at the time such discoveries were made public, once the skeletons were recovered they were transported to the relevant museums. Bodies suddenly disappeared into thin air and nobody talked about them anymore.
This is a map of all the discoveries of giant skeletons in North America alone. Really amazing to see how many!
Almost all of the discoveries in America are ended up in the Smithsonian Museum and apparently every discovery disappears into thin air.
The smithsonian had also a special division that explores ancient burial mounds in search of evidence about giants. One very famous event related just to the smithsonian is that of the San Diego giant of 1895. It was a perfectly mummified giant 2 and a half meters tall.
Today only a photo remains of that huge mummy that was also reported in various newspapers of the time.
The mummy was examined by many experts and after analysis the Giant was purchased by the smithsonian museum. However 13 years later, in 1908 when the mummy was still on display the museum performs some examinations and suddenly everything was dismissed as an Artifact.
Apparently it was made of wax!
What is strange is the fact that it took so long to discover it, especially after spending so much money to acquire it.
The fact that it had already been examined by many experts in the years before makes many people believe that there was something else hidden. In the end it is just a coincidence that every culture and religion on the planet tells stories of ancient giants who roamed the earth.
The Sumerian civilization which is thought to have originated 6000 years before Christ tells of a race of giants who ruled their people and there are many depictions of them.
Some Sumerian texts speak of a giant king named Gilgamesh who ruled for 126 years and is seen by scholars as a true historical figure.
Let us remember that millions of years ago on earth there existed dinosaurs monstrous creatures that seem more far-fetched than a giant.
Yet for millennia we did not even imagine it, and if they had wanted to, they could have kept it hidden from us.
Who would ever believe that there existed reptiles more than 20 meters tall ?
If today we know for sure that there existed giant reptiles as well as birds fish and insects, why does it seem so hard to believe that once there existed also giant human beings?
