From: Richard Kane <princeton!seismo!BBNCC5.ARPA!rkane>I personally feel ripped-off, and really no longer have as high an opinion of the show as I once did. Perhaps if they had ended the series with episode 16, there would have still been questions from viewers, but at least we would have been spared the farce of episode 17. I feel insulted that the series's loyal followers were served this nonsense to wrap up an event for which we have had a great deal of respect.

I think the last episode is pretty crazy also... I don't feel cheated though. There are so many things that that last show could mean. I think the whole series made you think, and that was its purpose. It's not a "mindless" TV series its one of those few good ones that can allow you to expand your mind. The last episode could mean don't take all this stuff so serious or could mean there are so many subliminal symbols in life so watch out. I'm not doing the last show justice by these few comments since the last show could stand for many different things or nothing! I think the real point is that it gets you thinking and I don't know about your life but I know I've had some days that seem like that last episode... (oh yes... it was not drug induced!) Also on the topic of several different writers... I still think the show flows fairly well. I don't have any complaints with that as I don't think trekkies see fault in Star Trek due to the numerous writers. No matter if you have many writers or just one, you are going to have some good shows and some bad shows... Don't take this as a personal attack, it's only my opinion...

Incidentally, I wrote to TV Ontario about 7 years ago for a copy of the Prisoner Puzzle, but they won't send it to you unless you are an educational TV station or the like. Perhaps you could encourage your local TV station to acquire it for you. Then they could go sell it to you during a pledge drive.
...
Does anybody have information on the above? What is the address of TV Ontario which department to write to???

Well, here I am to abuse this mailing list for the first and hopefully not the last time. Being new to the list I only recently received the last letter from Dave Iannucci and I noticed that one Richard Kane claimed that the mailing list has run dry. I am here.
It seems that at least at St. Joe's I am the only person who saw the Prisoner on channel 12 that was followed by an exclusive interview with Patrick McGoohan with a question and answer period.
Transcripts (according to my memory):
- rover = weather balloon (thanks Pat we really never knew that)
- Leo Mckern had a mental breakdown during the filming of the next to last episod in which when Patrick McGoohan went to his dressing room to see why he wasn't coming out Leo McKern said "get away 6 get away"
- McGoohan said the reason that the door opens up at the end of the last episode was that 6 escaped the Village but he will always be a prisoner of himself. Think about it. Who does he ever confide in? He has no one but himself and his secret. He trusts no one but wants everyone to trust him. He never even tells his fiance'. Also if he were a prisoner of himself then who else could Number 1 be but him?(as a member of the non comma club I believe the comma can't exist since even Leo McKern as one of the highest number 2's never saw number 1)
Some of my own thoughts before I go. His name. In the one episode where his mind has been switched to another man's body he goes back and convinces his fiance' that he is her man. She gets him an envelope he requests of her and it has a name on it....some guesses are Albright (not Drake??? you say...) Also it was pointed out to me that in the second episode while traveling with him in the crate 6's companion referred to the Big Ben clock in London as Big Bill supposedly because 6's name was Bill. That's it for now.
