Stuffed Fuzzy Melon (肉餡釀節瓜)
Ingredients:
- 1 large fuzzy melon
- 8 oz minced pork
- 4 oz minced shrimp
- 4 oz chopped water chestnut
- 1 Tbsp minced ginger
- 1 Tbsp chopped scallion
- 2 oz chopped mushroom
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- Pinch of white pepper powder
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp chicken broth
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Instructions:
- Prepare the fuzzy melon by peeling off the skin and removing the seeds from the center. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the minced pork, minced shrimp, chopped water chestnut, minced ginger, chopped scallion, chopped mushroom, soy sauce, white pepper powder, cornstarch, chicken broth, and sesame oil. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Refrigerate the mixture for 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Take the marinated minced pork and shrimp mixture and stuff it into the center of the melon ring, filling it evenly.
- Place the stuffed melon rings on a plate and steam over high heat for 13 minutes, or until the melon becomes tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Once steamed, remove the plate from the steamer and carefully transfer the stuffed fuzzy melon to a serving platter.
- Serve the Stuffed Fuzzy Melon as a main dish or as part of a larger meal. It pairs well with steamed rice or noodles.
