A CORRUPT AND IMMORAL CONGRESS IS BANKRUPTING AMERICA
- Congress has given us 14 tax increases over the last 10 years, with government now taking 40 cents in taxes out of every dollar earned in America.
- Congress has given us a $3.7 TRILLION national debt, which is a mortgage of $50,000 for every taxpayer.
- S&L crooks have poured millions of dollars into the re-election campaigns of Congressmen in exchange for "special favors" from powerful members of congressional banking committees (a scam that will cost taxpayers at least $500 BILLION).
- Congress has doubled federal spending in the last 7 years.
- Congress has stolen every penny (all $320 billion) from the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for it's wasteful pork-barrel spending schemes for special interests.
- 355 members of Congress cashed $25 million in over 22,000 bad personal checks at the House Bank. And, because no penalty was imposed on overdrafts for up to four weeks, these amounted to interest-free loans. Some Congressmen reportedly used this money for their re-election campaigns and/or for their own private investments.
- 300 Congressmen were discovered to have been delinquent in paying their meal tabs in 1991 got up to $300,000. And some of these unpaid meal bills were five years old!
- Congressional staff were allegedly selling and buying cocaine at the House Post Office.
- While the rest of America was going through a recession, Congress was giving itself even more luxurious offices by spending $375,000 to renovate the House beauty parlor; $25,000 to study the best location for the House gym; $2 million to renovate one of the House restaurants; $2.5 million for new Senate office furniture; $8 million for new Senate elevators; $250,000 to study the best placement of television lighting in the Senate Committee room; $25,000 for marble elevator floors to go with their marble offices and fireplaces.
- In the early years of this century, Congress spent $500 million to run the entire federal government. Today, Congress spends $2.7 Billion on just themselves.
CONGRESSIONAL IMMUNITY
Congress exempts itself from hundreds of federal laws the rest of us must abide by (or else pay a fine and maybe go to prison) including:
