Elite Macintosh Community Volume #3 12/16/95
introduction
Welcome to EMC, issue #03!
Just an early notice, this issue sucks big time, I've been busy the whole week, not to mention that there weren't any huge releases this week anyway. I have yet to try out Comanche, but will probably include a review of in next week's issue.

Extensions Strip v1.2
Do you like Apple's Control Strip Modules? Do you wish there was more flexibility to these things? Extensions Strip v1.2 is a control strip runner on steroids! I even think this beats out DragStrip 2.0, which I raved about in issue #1.
This program not only is compatible with ALL control strip modules, but it runs as an application and only takes a mere 200k of ram, plus it's FAT binary! Each Control strip is giving it's own individual window, thus enabling you to move certain modules around the screen.
The windows of the modules never go to the background either, like they did in Dragstrip. Plus they only take up about 1/2" with the small icon viewing capability. Fully supports drag and drop, doesn't conflict with anything as far as I can tell, this is THE desktop launcher.
Make sure to get this Control Strip Module: Control Strip Menu 2.2.1 This will keep a module jam packed with any file/folder/application you wish to have at your fingertips. Sports hierarchial menus, much like PopUp Folder 2.0.x, and best of all when using these hierarchial menus, background activity still can take place.
Extensions Trip 1.2 is what Apple's Control Strip SHOULD be.
You can pick this up at any info-mac mirror site!

Setting up a site?
Looking to set up an FTP site? Instead of running a flat out FTP site, why not run FirstClass software. Not only an you chat, send e-mail, and read messages while downloading/uploading, but you can also continue on downloads that were cancelled/aborted!
Just a little something to consider in your efforts to share the wealth.

8. closing
A sloppy issue, as is what happens when I don't have time to put together the articles during the week.
EMC will probably be hitting the net with its own home page, all depending when I want to spend time messing around with html shit, something that I really don't have time to work with around the holidays.
EMC will be distributed every weekend, look for it on a BBS/site near you.
Have a good one,
Freakman
