Modding an LG GDR 8163B drive for the Xbox (part 2)
This is what it looks like when everything is soldered.
The drive is now reassembled. At the point where the cables come out of the drive, you may have to cut off some plastic from the drive. Now connect the cables with the cables of the DVD power cable. See this table:
Of course, the cables must all be well insulated. This is how it should look then:
Now the front tray of the drive must be machined so that the original Xbox DVD bezel fits on it. Simply cut off about 1 mm of the protruding edges, then the bezel can be simply clicked on without any problems.
3. Customizing the enclosure for the drive
The actual work is now done, now the housing is adapted to the drive.
Let's start with the drive bracket: this part is cut off with the saw or pliers.
Now it's time for the housing cover. Again, a part is removed. This means that the corresponding housing screw can no longer be used, but that's not a bad thing.
Now only the two parts inside the housing, then we are also finished with it:
The drive is now installed in the Xbox, all cables are connected and this is how it looks:
That's it ;-)
