Anne Frank House
Today I have visited the famous house where Anne Frank and her family had been hidden for escaping from the Nazi SS from 1942 to 1944.
No cameras were allowed inside and therefore this article will not include any picture in it :(
Distribution of the house should be known, definitely it will for whoever had read the the Anne's Diary book. It is fascinating how the bookshelf, used to hide the access to the secret annex, is still in the same position and condition.
For those of you who haven't read the Anna's book, here's the description of the distribution. The secret refuge is composed by two floors, both of which can be visited. On the other hand, the attic cannot be visited. The original wooden staircase to reach the attic is still present, but cannot be used.
Unfortunately you will visit only unfurnished rooms, you will find them empty. All the furnitures and objects contained in them have been removed. Without the original interior furnishings, the house loses much of its original charm.
In addition, windows had been darkener and it will not allow you to get a clear understanding of the building around the house and all the difficult situation people dealt during the war for hiding Anna and her family, especially because you do not enter directly the building with the secret annex, but you reach it from an adjacent one.
How insane it must have been during those years to hide one's presence is not clear after visiting the Anne's house.
What a pity!
