Vol. 2-1 January 1998

We have expanded our news letter to the Urban Black Gospel mailing list and some of you may be reading our news letter for the first time. If so, expect to see a new news letter published every month. The news letter will feature devotionals, contests, and who knows what else we may throw in. Please drop us an Email at lucentweb@aol.com requesting to be added to our On-Line mailing list. Our On-Line mailing list members periodically receive updated info about upcoming concerts and contests as they are happening.

If your not familiar with this ministry let me briefly fill you in on who we are. As many of you already know, we are a Christian band that only plays original Christian music. Thunder Ministries INC. is the parent ministry Lucent runs under. Thunder Ministries INC. is based out of „Angels Crossing Church‰; an independent non-denominational church located in Clarksville, IN. Thunder Ministries helps support Lucent with intercessory prayer, bookings, and financial stability. Please keep Thunder Ministries in your prayers.

LUCENT DEMO UPDATE

Early last year we started work on a new project. The name of the new album is Eclectic. This project is definitely the finest showcase of musical talent Lucent has ever produced. We are currently booking concerts for our 98 schedule. We have new press kits and demo tapes featuring our new project available to Pastors, Youth Leaders, and Concert Promoters. If you have already requested a demo tape or press kit and haven't received it, please be patient. We mailed 25 out yesterday to record companies and pastors. Those of you who requested a demo and did not get one mailed out in the first wave will receive a letter via Email explaining why. again, we have new press kits and demo tapes featuring our new project available to Pastors, Youth Leaders, and Concert Promoters. Just Email us at lucentweb@aol.com with your complete name, address, and affiliation.

On-Line Contest Winner

The latest contest was an On-Line (Internet) only Christmas contest. The following entry was submitted by Claudia; our contest winner. Congratulations goes out to everyone who participated, and our winner. Keep an eye out for future contests. We will be running a new contest soon. The following letter was the winning entry. Hope you enjoy this as much as we did.

A few years ago, after our traditional Christmas Eve taco dinner, my three year-old grandson, his mother, his aunt, his little brother, his cousin, and myself all loaded into my van for our annual tour of the city‚s Christmas lights. In the past years, Santa Clause always came to Mikie‚s great-grandma‚s house while we were out touring, and we always got back just in time to hear his great grandpa's farewell to Santa out the back door; which leads to the garage!!

Well, this particular year, Mikie was determined to get there before Santa left the house and his excitement mounted to an all-time high as we pulled into the snow covered driveway. It was all we could do to keep him contained until the van came to a complete stop. Mikie was forced to stay beside the van until his mom and aunt could get the babies out of their car seats. The moon was casting a bright glow onto the blanket of white, betraying the darkness of night. A short burst of wind caused the trees to crackle and rustle as if suddenly disturbed by something.

We reached the front door in record time, and Mikie ran right past the Santa toys under the tree in the living room. Great-grandma‚s greyhound, HO, came in from the back yard. Mikie passed him on the way to the back garage door. He took one step onto the stoop and spying „reindeer‰ tracks in the snow cried out, „I SEE HIM!! I SEE HIM!! -- BYE, SANTA!!‰ He came back into the house with a renewed conviction that NEXT YEAR, he was going to catch Santa!

Mikie seemed unusually attentive as we continued our traditional Christmas Eve by reading the real Christmas Story, before opening our gifts to each other.

To this day, Mikie still believes in Santa, even though the other kids at his school have tried to convince him otherwise. He‚s almost 7 now and I believe in my heart that the memory of those „reindeer‰ tracks will stay with him for some time to come. Being his grandma, I hope he can hold onto his childhood long enough to allow him to grow in the Lord with the simple honesty I saw in his face that night.

CONCERT JANUARY 24^th

Lucent and Hand to Hand will be performing at the Holy Ground Cafe. The concert is January 24^th and will be located at Valley View Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.
