Century eggs from asia
Today I went shopping in an Asian supermarket. I found the famous century eggs, which I've heard of many times but never got the chance to try, so I bought a box.
The eggs are sold in packs of 6, like traditional eggs. Each egg is individually wrapped.
These are duck eggs (so it is written on the package) and not chicken eggs.
The inside of the egg is black
The smell of the egg tastes slightly like rotten eggs.
The Duck egg is literally black, including the yolk. The semi-transparent albumen looks like a gelatinous mass, while the yolk is soft and has a dark green colour.
The taste is strong, completely different from traditional hard-boiled chicken eggs.
