Adductors
Adductors
The adductors, draped over the inner seam line of our legs like a hidden scarf, are a physical allegory to what we lay buried and protected—out of sight, out of mind. When we are challenged to work this most intimate line of our body, we may find it delicate and tender to touch. We all carry secrets, our innermost thoughts and emotions, that feel too volatile to let loose on the world. So we stuff them into the container of our body, put a lid on them and carry on.
Things we can hide from the world:
- Our opinions.
- What worries us.
- How we are feeling, our emotions.
- What we want to do with our life.
- How we were treated.
- What we want from someone.
- What happened to us.
- What our relationships are like.
- Our shame.
When we stress the tissue group of the adductors, we ask the body to lean into physical vulnerability by opening up this quiet, hidden midline—like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon to the bright of day.
