Braised Pork Rice Bowl 肉臊飯

  1. Cut 2 pounds of pork belly into small pieces
  2. Boil 4 eggs for 12 minutes, remove shell set aside
  3. Boil few iceberg lettuce for a minute, set aside
  4. Low heat cooking pot with 1 Tbsp of oil
  5. Add 6 cloves of garlic, 6 slices of ginger, 6 pieces of star anises, 1 Tbsp of peppercorn, 6 pieces of bay leave, 1 cinnamon stick and couple of dry red chili peppers. Cook for few minutes until favors
  6. Turn to medium heat, add cut pork belly
  7. Cook the pork belly for 10-15 minutes until slightly turn brown
  8. Add 3 Tbsp of soy sauce, 2 Tbsp of cooking wine, 2 Tbsp of dark soy sauce and half cup of rock sugar, then add hot water high enough cover the meat
  9. Add boiled eggs, turn to medium low heat cook for 45 minutes
  10. Remove the ginger, star anises and bay leaves, turn to high heat to reduce the juice
  11. Cut the boiled eggs in half, place the egg and lettuce on top of a bowl of rice, then put the braised pork belly on the top. Ready to serve
