Dr. Slump: Hoyoyo! Space Adventure
Dokutaa Suranpu: Hoyoyo! Uchuu Daibouken
Finally I review the movie Dr. Slump: Hoyoyo! Space Adventure, taken from the first great work by Akira Toriyama, same author of the Dragon ball manga.
The main fact, as well as the driving force of the story, is the conquest of the planet Takeya Saodake by Emperor Mashirito's fleet. For a series of unfortunate coincidences, Mashirito finds the photograph of the princess on the planet, or (try to imagine who she is) Professor Yamabuki and, coincidentally, falls in love with her.
Midori (for the few who don't know, Midori is the name of Professor Yamabuki) is terrestrial, but when she was little she accidentally entered a space rocket, found near a playground (I saw an identical rocket the other day behind the pool), who took her to the planet Takeya Saodake, where the two rulers were childless and adopted her. Midori, when grew up, wanted to return to earth. Her parents allowed her to go to planet earth, but they made her swear that if they called her back, she would return without question to her planet.
Mashirito, taking advantage of this promise, manages to deceive Professor Yamabuki and brings her back to the planet Takeya Saodake, leaving poor Senbee Norimaki (Dr. Slump) in the throes of a deep crisis, as he is in love with Midori and has learned that she is returned to her planet to get married. Our great hero, however, recovers immediately and begins to build the "SLUMP", an enormous space ship (it looks a bit like the Yamato, but it is taller than long and also the departure is practically the same), with which he wants to reach the Professor Yamabuki and bring her back to earth.
At the departure of the Slump, the entire population of Penguin Village is present, including Sarada (the fashionable girl who goes around on a tricycle), the ass-faced aliens (who wanted the spaceship) and all the other secondary characters of the movie.
The crew is formed by the commander Senbee Norimaki, by his two sisters Arale and Gacchan (gupi gupi) and by all their friends: the Soraname brothers Soramame, Taro and Pisuke, and by the young thug Akane Kimidori. However, the Slump has a small flaw that is discovered too late to be fixed, that is, it has no toilet. The solution to this problem is unique, that is, every now and then they stop on a planet to expel the bodily needs, planets on which they also have interesting encounters. After a few stops, the happy group stops on the planet of the mythical Suppaman. Our heroes are attacked by Mashirito's three generals: Asilo, Nido and Ribbon, who with his very powerful "Ultra Head" star cruiser and some robots launch a violent attack on Arale, who to her extreme pleasure has found someone to play with. Conclusion of the fight: Arale amused, totally defeated enemies and Mashirito who goes crying (as always) to his mother.
The journey continues and the Slump arrives near the planet Takeya Saodake, where it is attacked by the bulk of the imperial forces: the star cruiser "Ragno" with all its dragonfly-shaped fighters. But our friends are no less: Taro and Akane throw themselves into combat with two ladybug-shaped fighters, Arale destroys the enemies with kicks and punches (having a lot of fun as usual), Gacchan fights with a strange aircraft and finally Pisuke commands the guns of the Slump. The fights are a parody halfway between those of Star Wars and those of the often mentioned Yamato, even if there are also allusions to other films (I have told you the most sensational, but looking closely you can find dozens). The result that comes out is a work of art of comedy.
After the clash between the Earthlings and the Imperials, Mashirito's fleet is completely destroyed, but the Slump is also seriously damaged, and falls, coincidentally, into the arena where Mashirito is about to force Professor Yamabuki to marry him. Here the fight between Arale and CaramelMan takes place, the most powerful robot of the former imperial fleet, now decimated by Arale. The fight takes place in the most comical way imaginable, ie Arale and the robot throw a planet at each other, even if in the end it is Mashirito who is defeated, he returns to his mother (another huge robot) who not knowing how to console him, goes haywire and disintegrates. The Slump is repaired and Midori's adoptive parents pay their respects to the heroes of a bath, so Arale, Gacchan, Akane, Taro, Pisuke, Professor Yamabuki and Dr. Senbee (happy for having saved his beloved), return celebrating to the Penguin Village.
I recommend this film to anyone who knows Arale, but I also recommend it to anyone who doesn't know what this series is, because this is the highest level it has reached: the animation is fantastic (although from 1982) and the character design is perfect.
