Black Jack
You there! yes, you, who are really young, you who want to read a review of the Black Jack's OAVs but not just any review, try to measure yourself with this ... review!
Do you have a problem that no doctor in the world can solve? Above all, do you have enough money to pay a monstrous fee? Well, call me and we can talk about it! Seriously, who you have to call is him, the renegade, the apparently cynical and aloof Black Jack!
To get a more complete overview of the character of the "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka, I suggest you read the booklet published by Dinamic, this just to absorb the most of the OAVs ...
However we are talking about this series.
The protagonist is a doctor who calls himself Black Jack; he looks very sad and cold, and this also conveys it in his way of dressing (always black cape and black dress) and of doing (you will never see him smile). Impassive in any situation, even the most desperate.
Black Jack is not only exceptionally good, but he is also (apparently) devoid of moral qualms, which allows him to operate in extreme conditions. The idea that still transpires from this mysterious character is that, however, he does not operate only for money and that despite his coldness his heart is bigger than that of any "arrogant" doctor who only cares about parcel!
I don't want to tell you anything about the stories, in fact every slightest hint would ruin what I consider to all intents and purposes a classic of world animation; you can't miss this work, even if you don't particularly love Tezuka's works (which, let me tell you, after many years retain an indisputable charm and relevance!).
What about these OAVs? Excellent workmanship, perfect atmospheres, characterization typical of a high quality Hollywood movie, all the characters of the Maestro are perfectly rendered by an accurate character designing. And what about dubbing in Italian? this is an extremely delicate part (practically the "intimate area" of the OAV) of the work! Well ... EXCEPTIONAL! The choice of voices is perfect (even that of Pinako, Black Jack's "young" assistant).
In short, I recommend you watch it unreservedly since lately (rarely) in animated productions the graphic quality and the care for history get along well. The theme song is also very nice, very much in line with the dramatic atmosphere but full of "hope".
P.S. Don't be scared if the second video starts the same way as the first one. After the theme song I assure you that the story is different!
