Beef Noodle Soup

  1. Cut 2 pounds of beef pot roast in large pieces
  2. Marinate beef with 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of sugar, 1 Tbsp of cornstarch and 1 Tbsp of oil
  3. Cut 1 yellow onion and 2 large tomatoes in large pieces, set aside
  4. Low heat cooking pot with 2 Tbsp of oil, then add 2 slices of ginger, 3 star anises, 3 bay leaves, 3 cloves of garlic cook for a minute
  5. Turn to medium heat, add beef
  6. Cook beef to light brown (approximate 8-10 minutes), then add 1 Tbsp of cooking wine
  7. Add cut onion and tomatoes, then 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 tsp of white pepper powder, 1 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of salt and 1 Tbsp of beef bouillon.
  8. Continue cook for 5-10 minutes, then add 8 cups of water
  9. Turn to low heat and continue cook for 45 minutes. Add more salt if needed
  10. Pre-cook fresh egg noodles in hot water for 6 minutes and few bok choy. Place them in a serving bowl
  11. Add beef and broth on top of noodle with few drops of sesame oil and sprinkle some chopped scallion. Ready to serve.
