Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel
part 2
This article is a continuation of the previous one. After visiting the museum inside the
Wilhelmshöhe palace, I decided to visit the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and in particular the very famous statue of Hercules.
The Hercules statue is located on the top of the mountain, I am at the bottom, so the long journey begins :)
Along the way there are some tourist attractions, such as the reconstruction of an ancient Roman aqueduct.
Look how far I have already walked (uphill road!). The palace where I visited the museum a little while ago is already very far away.
However the sky remains dark and drizzling.
This is the Devil's Bridge
Finally I reached the Neptune's grotto
Now it's time to climb the steps !!!
At the top there is a small artificial lake with statues
The statues are not carved in marble, they look like casts, as if liquid material had been poured into a mold.
The Hercules statue is getting closer
The panorama is very beautiful.
Looking down you can see the fountains, the palace and very far away the long, straight road that cut in two the city of Kassel.
looking above, the statue !
There are stairs that allow to further climb the structure
almost there
I finally got to the top. This is the highest point of the structure. The porthole behind me is at the top of the pyramid on which the statue rests. It is not possible to climb further.
Then, like magic, at 14:30 the water started to flow throughout the entire structure.
What a wonderful show :)
