Schifffahrtsmuseum Flensburg (Flensburg Maritime Museum)
The Flensburg Maritime Museum is a branch of the Municipal Museum founded in 1979, which was inaugurated in 1984 in the former customs warehouse on the Schiffbrücke as a highlight of the city's 700th anniversary; it offers an overview of the seafaring tradition of Flensburg on the history of the city.
It is composed by three main building.
The first building
contains
A full room is dedicated to the rum, an important business at that time.
The next room contains ship miniatures as well as equipment used to repair ships.
The museum also contains the reproduction of an ancient cockpit
with an ancient steering wheel. Isn't it beautiful ?
The second building mainly contains boat engines
In the garden, which is located between the various buildings, there is an engine of a boat and a huge boiler, used to generate the steam for an old steam engine.
In the last building (which is actually the building you enter to check in from)
we can find
In the basement of the building a film about the city of Flensburg and its history is shown (about 20 minutes long).
