The Baltic Sea
Finally I can see it, the Baltic sea :)
From the Flensburg city center I took the bus very early in the morning and in a few minutes I reached the "Hundestrand Ostseebad" and ...
here it is, the very famous Baltic Sea, in all its splendor.
The water, at least that of the beach where I went, is shallow and has a green / yellow color. It is definitely not the color of the Sardinian waters.
However it is a great experience :)
Here a photo of me with the sun on the horizon as it rises.
Here a photo taken a few hours later. The sun is higher and starts to blind !
A long wooden pier overlooks the beach, dividing it into two parts: on the left side it is a beach. It is basically muddy.
populated by hundreds of seagulls.
On the right side there is a beautiful beach with fine sand.
On both beaches there are many mussels and shells, probably the main food of the seagulls.
The Baltic Sea was, after the Atlantic Ocean, the second most important sea during the Second World War. This sea separated UK from Germany.
During the war, many mines were placed in this sea basin. At the end of the second world war many were removed, but it is estimated that there are still thousands of unexploded bombs on the sea bed as well as hundreds of sunken boats !!!
