The importance of Daily Meditation (today's podcast transcript)
We live in a beautiful world but to experience it we first need to know we are not truly seeing it.
This is an increasing problem too due to us living in the Information Age. We are now bombarded with unprecedented levels of data and our brain has not evolved to be able to handle it all.
So we’re lost in a digital storm, endless passwords to be reset, endless semi-real engagement through a screen and notification after notification.
There is a new condition that mimics ADHD but the difference is that it also occurs in neurotypical people and is caused by our environment, not by our brains. It is called VAST (SM) stands for Variable Attention Stimulus Trait. It looks like ADHD because the same or similar problems occur, problems with attention, anxiety, overwhelm, addiction and just about everything that plagues us today, at levels never seen before.
So we are not seeing this beautiful world we live in, because our inner world is completely clogged.
Putting down your phone and getting out into nature is a wholesome practice in itself, nature heals us and we need to be outside amongst the plants and trees as often as we can.
Adding daily meditation to our lives will restore our sense of wonder and help us heal from our anxieties, overwhelm and addictions.
Joy is hiding behind our addictions, it is our natural state, according to Buddhism anything concealing a radiantly joyous mind is adventitious, meaning these maladies are external factors and not inherent in nature.
So, each time we sit in meditation, we clean the mind, polishing away the dust that has been added to it by life, so it can shine and radiate wellness and kindness like a beautiful golden Buddha.
So meditate daily.
I am now about to release the fifth meditation in a course I’ve complied as a gift to repay the great kindness shown to me by the supporters of this show.
I add a new meditation monthly, each one building on the last so I take the students deeper and deeper into meditation. Access to this course is available to the patrons from as little as a dollar a month, and I’m truly grateful as it keeps this podcast alive.
