Soest
Today, on the way back to Paderborn, having time, I decided to visit the city of Soest.
It is a very old city, full of history. Unfortunately, May 1st is a national holiday in Germany, so the streets were practically deserted and all places of interest closed :(
Just out of the central station, the first thing that immediately catches the eye is the architecture of the houses.
The houses are made of stone and mud and have wooden pylons on the facades. I first saw this particular construction technique many years ago in Nuremberg, and I love it :) The streets are obviously made with small stones, full medieval style !
There are also houses made with stones
as well as a small river that runs through the historic center of Soest
The church, which is now undergoing restoration, is unfortunately closed.
Here are some additional details of the facades of the houses
For lunch i went to "Der Mönchshof". This building once was the native house of Otto Modersohn.

The whole atmosphere inside is almost magical. Everything is made of wood. It reminds me a lot the medieval pubs of Nürnberg.
Besides me there was only a couple who ate at a small table in the corner.
This is a page from the menù with some info about Otto Modersohn
As a first course I ordered a grillteller with different cuts of meat
and as dessert, something truly German: Kaiserschmarrn mit Apfelmus, very well presented.
And after a further small tour of the historic city-center, back to home.
