So it's slowly but surely (on both sides of the Atlantic) starting to
kick off about chat rooms. Oprah had a show, we had the international
W0nderland (they actually spelled it with a zero) club unearthed and we have
several high-profile campaigners in Britain asking the impossible.
:-)
Just to fill you in, should you not have heard of the W0nderland
club, several fellas in various countries were arrest for child abuse and
possessing and distributing over 750,000 images of child porn. They were
members of this encrypted newsgroup based club which would, amongst other
things, arrange live webcam based broadcasts of one of them having a kid.
>:-(
Paedophilia/paedophiles are everywhere in "reality" so why not in
"cyberspace"? I am not in the slightest bit surprised at this activity on
the Web. But asking ISP's (Internet Service Providers) to somehow keep out/
off all paedophiles is like asking all bus companies to identify and stop
paedophiles travelling. Can't be done and it isn't their responsibility
anyway. ISP's for the large part are not The Internet they merely take you
there.
:-o
The point I think we're missing is that a hell of a lot of these
paedophiles are active in real life. They are Husbands, Wives, Fathers,
Uncles, Aunties, Grandparents, Teachers etc... They are meeting kids and
having their way with them. Some are killing them. The Internet does not
kill kids. Real life does. Many more paedophiles than any twitchy, greasy-
haired lard bucket that might be the nightmare of most parents don't *need*
the Internet to fuck kids. Their favourite tipple is upstairs asleep or
watching The Simpsons on their laps. That's what we've got to worry about
because these poor wretches will be the next generation of abusers (a well
established fact). That is *really* scary.
=:-O
Anyway, that's not what I wanted to talk about. I want to talk about
chatrooms. What the hell is the point? You don't know who you're talking
to, you can't believe a word they're saying, if you can't speak the "chat
talk" most of what people say is gobbdigook and nobody actually talks about
what the room is for (i.e. in a X-Files room they'll just talk about who's
going to meet at the Seven11). "lol, wtfigo, 3:-o (a cow), +<:-) (a nun),
(8-) (bald with glasses)................."
:-|
In the more popular rooms you shouldn't even attempt to follow a
thread on the main screen, just shout "Hello!" and hope someone sets up a
private chat. I ask you, who the hell are you talking to? You don't know
and you'll never know. The world is having false conversations with
everyone else.
:-)....
I've pretended to be bi-sexual in a bi chatroom and my girlfriend,
who is bi, was verbally assaulted by a bible basher (it might even have been
two!) after assuming for half an hour she was talking to a 14 year old bi
female. If I've done that sort of thing I'm sure just about everyone has.
It renders any conversation with a stranger totally pointless.
:'-(
I mean, most of the tits who enter these rooms all know each other
and live in the same neighbourhood or town and don't even need to use them.
What's with that? It's like, they get home from school and immediately
start "chatting" to their classmates on their PC!
Well, I've managed to talk about two things in one piece. And used
only the most tenuous of links to do it. I feel like a DJ.
