Black Drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus)

Characteristic: Size 28 cm. Black all over the body with distinctive long, forked tail. Underpart is paler, more greyish; sometimes with pale spots.
Distribution: Iran, India, China, Hainan, Taiwan, Java, SE Asia. Commonly seen in all parts of Thailand.
Habitat: Open ground, dipterocarp forest and dry evergreen forest.
Habit: Seen mostly perching on exposed perches, such as on bare branches and electric cables. Flying tirelessly after insects to feed themselves. Breeds between April-June; they build a nest high on the tree top and a female lays in it a clutch of 4 eggs.
Status: A common resident and seasonal migrant.
