How to create MP3 Discs for PS2 using Paradox Player
There wasn't any instructions on how to use the Paradox MP3 Player and the only one I found was not in English. I finally succeeded only after much experimentation and free coasters. So I have decided to write this guide to help all those who are interested.
The package pdx-mp3.zip that can be downloaded in this forum contains the following files :
pdx-mp3.nfo
pdx-mp3.cue
pdx-mp3.bin
file_id.diz
cdgenPS2.exe
Firstly, the .nfo file does not provide enough information to really create a MP3 disc. The pdx-mp3.cue and pdx-mp3.bin files create a MP3 player disc without any mp3's on it so it is not really useful. What you need are some files within the pdx-mp3.bin file.
For those who are more adventurous and would like to extract the required files, use CDMAGE and extract these files from the pdx-mp3.bin file. For others I have attached a zip file containing these files.
\SCEE_DD\IOPRP16.IMG
\SCEE_DD\IOPRP165.IMG
\SCEE_DD\IOPRP20.IMG
\SCEE_DD\IOPRP202.IMG
\MP3PLAY.ELF
\SOUNDH.IRX
\SYSTEM.CNF
Using the cdgenPS2.exe program, add these files first to the list. You will have to put the .IMG files in the SCEE_DD directory and the rest in root.
After adding the necessary player files, just add your desired MP3 files to the discs (to any directory, even root) and create an image. This image can be subsequently burned using Nero Burning ROM (which I find is the best and gives no errors) using the slowest speed (4X is ok) and make sure it is using DAO.
Enjoy your MP3s.
