Import games on your PSX, PSOne or PS2
Most chips these days include code to boot import games but unless you have a modern TV that supports Imports then it may not display correctly.
For this tutorial I will explain from my point of view which is I have a PAL console, a PAL TV, Im located in a PAL country and Import games are NTSC. This tutorial is the same if you are NTSC and want to play PAL.
COLOUR
The colour problem is noticed by a black & white picture this can be fixed by any of the following:
- NTSC - PAL Patch
- NTSC/PAL Selector Patch
- Import Boot Disc (PSX & PSOne only)
- Colour Link Wire (only with certain chips)
- An RGB Scart Lead
- An NTSC - PAL Converter Box
If none of the above work for you then it is possible that your TV does not support NTSC Colour Correction.
Note some TV's have more than one Scart socket but RGB may only be enabled on one not all.
FREQUENCY
The frequency problem is noticed by a scrolling picture.
NTSC use 60htz picture where PAL use 50Htz.
This can be cured by the following methods:
- NTSC/PAL Selector Patch (only works with a few games)
- If you have a TV with H-HOLD you can adjust it to play the game then re-adjust it back after.
- An NTSC - PAL Frequency & Colour Conversion Adaptor (very expensive).
