Homemade Braised Short Ribs
Although traditional Chinese cooking normally don’t use citrus for marination, it actually added another layer of favor. Surprisingly good.
- Marinate 2 pounds of short ribs with few slices of fresh limes, 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, 1 Tbsp of chopped ginger and 2 Tbsp of cornstarch. (Prefer overnight)
- Pan seared short ribs in hot oil until golden brown
- Once its done, take the short ribs out and turn to low heat
- Add few slices of gingers, bay leaves and star anises cook for a minute
- Add 2 cups of water (chicken broth can be used as a substitute for water)
- Add 2 Tbsp of rice vinegar (fresh lime juice can be used as a substitute for rice vinegar) and 3 Tbsp of sugar
- Slow cook for 35-45 minutes
