Cracking Art in Sardinia (Cagliari)
Yesterday afternoon I went to the shopping center "I Fenicotteri" in Cagliari (near the Santa Gilla pond) and I noticed that there were several colored plastic sculptures.
The artistic initiative is called "RigenerArte".
Near the main entrance a huge red snail welcomes the customers
Next to the snail a sign:
which translates into English as:
"RigenerArte": art meets sustainability in the first widespread cracking art exhibition in Sardinia.
CrackingArt
The snail is a symbol of the Cracking Art because its slime has regenerative properties. She moves slowly, confidently towards the goal, taking her house with her. She is ancient and also very modern, since it represents the electronic mail. The rabbit is instead a symbol of reproduction, proliferation of nature. And it is associated with the dimension of illusion, magic and fable.
In fact, an invasion of colorful and multifaceted sculptures which, according to the sign, will be exhibited in different spaces in Sardinia:
- 15 August - 8 September - Shopping Center Olbia Mare (Olbia)
- 8 September - 26 September - Shopping Center I Fenicotteri (Santa Gilla / Cagliari)
- 29 September - 17 October - Shopping Center Porte di Sassari (Sassari)
- 20 October - 7 November - Shopping Center Marconi (Cagliari)
Inside the Shopping Center I Fenicotteri there were statues of dogs,
rabbits,
dolphins,
turtles,
cats,
lemurs,
crocodiles,
snails,
wolves,
bears,
penguins,
and frogs
It seems that these colorful statues will be installed in these days not only in the areas of the four shopping centers of Sardinia, but also in the spaces of the airports of Olbia-Costa Smeralda, Alghero-Fertilia “Riviera del Corallo” and Cagliari-Elmas.
Saturday morning, when I go to Cagliari airport, should I see some more sculptures I will take some pictures and update this article. Stay tuned :)
