Update MAME from one version to another using the P@R@64 packages
- Download the new version of the MAME executable and copy it where you have installed your MAME (for example C:/Programs/MAME/)
- Download my update package.
- Copy the contents to a folder (for example C:/ROMS/)
- Launch CLRMAMEPro which will look like this:
- Click on CREATE and the window will open that allows you to search for the executable of the MAME (next to the DESCRIPTION item, edit the version of the MAME referred to).
- Then click on CREATE PROFILE , then click OK .
- Select the profile you just created and click on LOAD / UPDATE .
- The program will now enter the main menu (like the figure below).
- Now click on SETTINGS
- Now on ADD and look for the folder where you keep your MAME set.
- Click on ROM-Paths and select the Sample-Paths item and look for the folder where you keep the MAME samples.
- Now, to return to the menu, click on the button that closes the window.
- Click now on the SCANNER key then on the SYSTEMS ... button.
- Then on the Auto-Detect SySDefsPaths button ... at the end of this first scan click on the ALL button ... then close this window (which is only used to search for the BIOS essential to many sets).
- In the SCANNER <Check Fix> section click on the ALL button and start the scan by clicking on SCAN ...
- During the scan, if any requests are made, always answer OK to ALL .
- At the end of the scan CLRMAMEPro will have corrected the various ROM renaming errors or deleted those no longer used and will show a summary window like this (maybe it will give you some more missing roms ...)
- Now click on OK , then close the SCANNER window and click on REBUILDER .
- Now click on the button next to the SOURCE window and look for the folder where you will have saved the contents of my update package (we said C:/ROMS )
- In the DESTINATION section indicate the correct path of your set.
- Now click on REBUILD .
- At the end of the rebuild operation, a summary window will open.
- Click OK then close the REBUILDER window.
- Click again on SCANNER then on the FASTSCAN button (which will check only the sets that have had problems with the previous full scan) and, if everything has been done correctly, the errors will vanish and the set will be complete again!
