Greetings again everyone,
Couple of things to bring up this week, first I want to respond
to some questions from the last issue.
Travis asked about the A-Team van and the color scheme. I noticed
this week in "The Road to Hope" (a great, great, episode!) that the
top and the sides above the red stripe were in fact grey as Travis
mentioned. Was this the episode you noticed it in, 'cause it's the
only one I've seen where the van wasn't completely black except for
the stripe. Perhaps the regular van was just in the shop when they
filmed that episode so they had to get a quick substitute :-)
And then Valerie asked--
>And, while I'm at it, how does the
>series end? I've seen part of the last season, but I don't know how it ends.
The last episode was "The Grey Team," at least plot-wise, although
"Without Reservations" was a "lost" episode shown a few months after the
show was cancelled. There isn't really any hint that this is the final
show until the wrap-up scene, where the guys start talking about how they
may be getting near the end of their contract with Stockwell, and what
they would do after they finally get their pardon. Of course, as Hannibal
points out, what are they really any good at except going after bad guys,
mobsters, general all-around sleazeballs, etc, so most likely they'd just
keep doing what they'd been doing all these years. That's it. Roll credits.
An ok ending for a good-if not really exceptional-episode, but it wasn't
the conclusion I know I was hoping for. I mean, I was so pissed at the time
that they were cancelling the show, I thought we at least deserved a
knockout-climactic ending show at as good as the one that opened the 5th
season and with everything it was building up to. Like maybe let's find
out once and for all what exactly DID happen to Coronel Morrison, who really
killed him, etc. Well at least I would have appreciated an ending like that.
Due to some technical difficulties, the 4th season episode list won't
be posted until next week. Sorry 'bout that, but I accidentally lost part of
the list on my computer much to my annoyance :-(
One final note, tonight on late-night Philly tv they're suposed to be
showing a 1983 tv-movie Dwight was in called "When Your Lover Leaves,"
which I've been looking for a copy of for a long time (like, since
1983, when it was on tv past my bedtime :-)). I have no clue if it's
any good or just how big Dwight's part is, but I'll post more info
on it after I see it. If anyone wants a copy of it, I'll be taping
and can dub copies.
until next week...

Did anybody see Dwight Schultz in last weeks episode of Star Trek:TNG ?
Graeme
-------------------------------------------------------------
Um...which episode was it? He was in a number of them as Barclay, and the
syndication schedules around the country are all different.
Speaking of Dwight on TNG, a friend of mine who's on here (you know
who you are :-P ), said (and I agree) that it would've made a classic TNG
scene if they were to come across Barclay on the holodeck wearing Murdock's
baseball cap and in the middle of one of his crazy fits. At least then I'd
get an intentional laugh out of TNG for once!

My all time favorite episode (off the top of my head anyway) is the
two hour one where the gang and Amy are helping a Native American
stop the slaughter of wild horses.
Just my $.02
Will
-------------------------------------------------------------
That was "When You Comin' Back, Range Rider?" from the second season,
I believe that was the first episode with the great Lance Legault
as Decker too.

I saw a great deal of interesting subjects addressed this
week so I figured I would get my two-cents in. I'll address
the topics one by one.
Nicole,
Mr. T did in fact appear on a wrestling pay-per-view
event last Sunday (10/23) in Detroit, Michigan titled "Halloween
Havoc". It was a WCW pay-per-view event, not a WWF one. Mr. T
acted as the special referee for a Career vs. Career match between
Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. Hogan won the match and sent Flair
packing. Surprisingly enough, Mr. T remained impartial throughout
the match. More on Mr. T in WCW... World Championship Wrestling is
owned by Ted Turner and they recently signed Hulk Hogan to a multi-year
contract. Hogan has apparently influenced the people at Turner to find
a permanent place for Mr. T. In January 1995, taping will begin for
four Thunder in Paradise movies that will air on TBS. The movies
will star Hogan, T., and wrestler Sting. It's sad to see Mr. T's
career like this. At one point, he was getting Hulk Hogan jobs
(Rocky III), two A-Team episodes. They have been good friends for
years, so atleast Hogan is taking care of his friend.
Nicole Part II,
You wanted to know how much the A-Team action figures
are worth. I don't know for sure, but Prodigy a woman was asking
$30.00 for a Face doll autographed by Dirk Benedict. I would be
interested in buying/trading TV shows for any and all A-Team figures.
Shannon,
I agree with you about "The Long Walk Home". It really was
a great movie. The place I saw it airing was ther Disney Channel. I
have also seen it at Blockbuster video. Dwight Schultz didn't really
make the movie, but it was good just seeing him. The movie aired
last Martin Luther King Jr. day on the Disney Channel, so be on the
lookout for it again this year. You never know.
Travis,
You wanted to know about the A-Team Van. Last year, I took
a tour of Universal Studios in Hollywood and the A-Team Van is one
of the attractions. As you're riding along in the tram the A-Team
theme music is playing. The license plates' numbers can be found
by dating back a few issues of this newsletter I believe.
Mike,
I remember Mr. T being on Silver Spoons. I wish I had that
on tape. I remember Ricky's dad hired Mr. T to protect him at
school against a bully. Mr. T also did an episode of Different
Strokes (truely a classic) and most recently an episode of Blossom
last season. NBC might reair that Blossom episode sometime, so be
on the lookout.

(continued from last note)
Val,
You were talking about early George Peppard stuff. Next week
sometime I'll post a George Peppard bio, like I did for Dirk
Benedict (courtesy of the World Wide Web). In the mean time, you
can check George out in a 1972 series called "Banacek". I've only
seen bits and pieces of an episode. He plays like a private eye
or something. The show airs on A & E, is usually 90 minutes long,
and is on before or after the Rockford Files. It only airs once a
week though. Check listings.
Val Part II/Nicole Part III,
Let's not forget the most frequent guest star, RED WEST.
My friend Andrew, who is also on this mailing list, knows who
I'm talking about. Red appeared in four episodes, the most notable
being in the final season in the episode "Alive at Five". He played
the sheriff. He also played a deputy in "Pros and Cons", a lumberyard
owner in Semi-Friendly Persuasion, and a plain old ruffian in "Waiting
For Insane Wayne" (which actually is one of my favorite episodes.
Murdock is just hilarious in that one.
Closing notes.... WANTED: Tapes of Dwight Schultz. For the last
several weeks I have been attaining a great deal of Dirk Benedict
stuff. I have managed to aquire most everything he has done including
the book he wrote titled "Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy". Now, I
am going to focus on Dwight Schultz. It isn't going to be easy I know.
So any and all info on Dwight Schultz stuff would be appreciated. I
will pay or trade for the tapes. I also will have all 98 hours of the
A-Team on tape by the end of this month. Right now, I have about 80
hours on tape. One more closing thing, I put a note on Prodigy
addressed to USA Network asking them about the Weird Science episode
with Dwight from last week. If I find anything out, I'll let everybody
know. Take care everyone. I'll see you next week.

Another repeat guest star I liked was Markie Post (of Night Court
fame), who in "The Only Church in Town" played a old flame of Face's
who was now a nun, and then in another episode was a fashion model
that Face was dating.
Like Tony, I am also looking to get any tapes of Dwight Schultz.
I'll buy copies or I'll trade for stuff I've got, which includes some
of his TNG episodes and a few other things. I have currently about a
third of all the A-Team episodes on video and am working on getting
the rest. Which reminds me, I would also be interested in getting videos of
ORIGINAL NBC broadcasts of A-Team episodes, with the scenes that have
been chopped out in syndication, of at least certain episodes (like the
5th season opener and Beast form the Belly of the Boeing).
I've posted on some AOL and internet newsgroups to try to hunt down
Mr. T's sitcom appearances. If I have any luck locating them I will
let everyone know. One Mr. T moment I wish I had on tape was something I
saw over this past summer on the Today show. Al Roker was filling in for
Willard
Scott that day. Back in the eighties when Al was still just doing weather
reports for "Live at Five" in New York, he mentioned a couple times that he
was a big A-Team fan. Anyway, so this one morning Al was doing a little
pre-forcast blurb for a strong-man contest on cable and interviewing someone
about it when in comes Mr. T, who was the host of the event. Al proceeds to
flip out, yelling "Hey! Mr. T! Hey sucker! I'll take you on any day!" etc.,
etc., and T took the bait and the two of them were there yelling at and
insulting each other for a good minute or two, it was really hilarious.
BTW, what ever happened to Mr. T's short lived post-A-Team show "T and T"?
Did anyone catch it while it was on, and was it any good?

Does anyone out there remember Mr. T's attempt at a rock and roll
record, "Mr. T's Commandments?" The only thing I remember about it was
this particularly hilarious line:
"If you break a rule
G-d won't help you fool
You got Mr. T to fear"
I also think he was great as Clubber Lang in Rocky III (the last good
Rocky film, and with Hulk Hogan as Thunderlips, the funniest.)
I just think it's cool that "On the Jazz" exists. The next step is a
newsgroup. I think "Rec.Arts.A-Team" sounds pretty good. {g}
Rock on!

Hi! I just wanted to ask if anyone knew how the series actually ended. I know
they start working for General Stockwell, but do they finally get a pardon,
or
what?
val

Hey Val,
I think I answered that for ya at the beginning of this issue :-)
Was anyone else as dissappointed with the ending as I was?
