Xbox wont power on fix
If your Xbox won't turn on, you hear zapper noises or sparks, try this
Most Xboxes are manufactured with foxlink PSUs, which are prone to be unreliable; I found out how to fix it.
Things you need:
- Your Xbox
- Torx 20 screwdriver
- Torx 10 screwdriver
- 15 watt soldering iron
- small gauge solder
Usefull things
- X-acto knife
- rubbing alcohol
- q-tip
- sand paper
Ok on to the guide
- Flip ur Xbox over, then take the feet off, use the t20 to unscrew the screws, then punch the serial and warning labels to reach the final screws
- remove the cover and disconnect the HDD
- unscrew the screw adjacent to the HDD to remove the HDD tray
- there is a connector on the motherboard, for newer Xboxes, pull one side, then the other
- unscrew the 2 screws on the front and back of the PSU
- remove the PSU
- flip the PSU over, then find the blackened solder tab, remove any vaporized solder, using alcohol, knife or sandpaper
- Warm the iron, tin the tip of the iron when hot, then apply solder generously on the tab, till the tab is hidden by it, be careful not to spread to other circuits or it may blow up.
- Reassemble the case, the try your 'new' PSU
By the way, I can do this for four bucks if you send me the PSU. Contact me with pics or MPEG-1 videos at :
