SEGA Saturn PAR-Swap Method
--=PAR-Swap Method=--
CD-R Swap method using a Pro Action Replay (PAR) v1.2
-For those like me who are having a hard time with a Model 2 Saturn and no mod chip here is a 99% accurate way to play with a 4-in-1/5-in-1 - Pro Action Replay (PAR).
You can also use the cheat codes with this method.
-->Before you proceed:
Using this info might cause your Saturn's CD-Drive motor to burn. Even though I personally don't believe that it will, extensive swapping might cause damage. I take no responsibility for your action; (in plain English) if you fuck up your Saturn, it's your fault.
-->Get you Saturn Red E (he he!)
1. Like in the -=Saturn Swap Method=- FAQ, DISCONNECT ALL CABLES!
2. Open the Saturn and tape the lever next to the power supply.
3. Test run the Saturn to see if the modified lever works.
-->Decision
4. You can now leave the Saturn unscrewed:
+Lid can be removed to see what's happening (for beginners)
+Faster Swapping
-More vulnerable to being Damaged
Or closed the Saturn:
+Better protected
-Might take more tries to boot CD-R
Note: If you leave it unscrewed and have the lid off, you can leave the Saturn idle (ex. Paused) around five minutes (if there is no CD access, ex. no Music) or less for the CD to stop spinning to replace the lid.
-->The Swap
1. Start the Saturn up with the Pro Action Replay and CD-R.
2. Now you should be on the "Main Menu", switch to an official game CD.
3. You can now Start with or with out cheat(s).
If you want to activate a cheat:
Choose "Select Cheat" and find the game your about to play, select the cheat(s) and press the Start-button. With "Start Game With Selected Cheats" highlighted press the C-button.
If you don't want to activate a cheat:
Choose "Start Game", and with "Start Game With No Cheats Enabled" highlighted press C-button.
4. By now you should be in the CD player, if you were successful, the "Start Application" Button should look like the planet Saturn (with a ring).
5. Now press the "Start Application" Button (or Start, same effect).
6. Now wait and listen to the drive, it should first read the inner track (witch can be seen), it should slow down and read the outher track, when you hear it moving again and speeding up (you don't have to wait for it to reach the inner track), quickly remove the official CD and insert the copied CD.
--> Thanx To
"Anonymous" for writing the Saturn Swap FAQ, his simple to understand method was use to describe the PAR-Swap.
"Aragorn Shadowcaster" for shortening the method to one swap.
