This electronic publication is being put together due to a belief that
there may still be strong support for a publication dedicated to
QuickBasic. Although the primary focus is toward QuickBasic we do intend
articles and programming examples that will also be applicable to
QBasic.
I have committed to putting out a September and October 1994 issue.
Your response will determine if there should be continued issues past
these dates. Depending on response we could continue monthly, or
publish every other month. Minimal response would result in its
discontinuance past the October issue.
How can you help?
First you can upload this free August issue to the BBS boards you
call, and leave messages on those boards trying to build up
interest in this publication.
Next, you can help by purchasing the next issue. The September and
October issues will be $5 each U.S.A. only ( $7 outside the U.S. in U.S.
funds ). Even though there will be a small charge I in no way intend
to make a killing from this. However, I do feel that a little
compensation is not unreasonable. After disk costs, duplication
fees and mailing fees there won't be much left. In case you are
reading this sometime after October 1994, we will make these copies
available until at least June of 1995. The August issue is free, please
pay for future issues. If someone you know would like you to make them
a copy you may do so if that person will send me $3 U.S.A. or $4 outside
the U.S., along with their name and address. Please note that it
will be illegal to post any issue other than the August free issue on
any BBS.
Finally you can help by submitting any articles, questions or
comments that we could use in future issues. If you submit
any code, it must belong to you. If you release it to the public
domain please make this clear. If it is shareware, but would like us to
distribute it, please state so. If you fill proficient in any area
please consider sharing your knowledge with others. Sorry but no
payment can be made for submissions at this time. Any submissions
made by you remain your property. We simply want to be the vehicle
for transmitting your information. By sharing your knowledge we
can all benefit, and continue the growth of this publication.
Now just a little about myself - First I don't profess to be a
programming whiz. I would hope that reader contributions would
be the primary source of information for this publication. Although
no fee can be paid for your articles, we will, of course, acknowledge
your contributions. I have had some programming experience with COBOL
and RPG. I have had some previous experience with assembly and
back in the heyday of the Commodore 64 computer, wrote games
and utilities for that machine. Several of my programs were sold
nationally, and some of my utilities were published in national
computer magazines. I have put out several shareware programs for
IBM compatibles. I am hoping that this publication will be a
learning experience for me as well as for you. The more experienced
programmer may find this issue very basic, maybe even simplistic in
many of the explanations. This has been done on purpose, so that
even a beginner can understand what is being discussed.
