Introduction
First of all, as with all my hacking docs this is a WIP (Work-in-progress). I'm sure there will be info that will be inaccurate. But that's what you people reading this are for (so you can help me fix my mistakes ;), right?
Please, if you want to copy portions (whole or in part) of this document, please, at least email me and ask. Linking is fine, just mention where the original doc was found.
Text References among other things
I basically needed a filler doc, and this will do very nicely. Basically this will be a list of good documents that will help Saturn hackers. Perhaps I’ll add a few things later. All the docs listed can be found at www.romhacking.org unless otherwise specified.
"Console Graphics Document" by Klarth. My favourite reference for tile formats. If you're new to this sort of thing, this doc provides you with a good understanding of how they work. You may also find an older format used in the Saturn game you're working on.
"The Mad Hacker's Guide to Pointers" by The Mad Hacker. If you ignore the nes/rom specific stuff it gives you a basic idea of what pointers are and what they do.
“Description of the EMS Action Replay Plus 4-in-1 cartridge” by Charles MacDonald. A rather informative document on the Saturn Action Replay hardware and software. You can find this one from: http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/saturn.htm
“Sega Saturn hardware notes” by Charles MacDonald. Has some interesting stuff not found in other documents. You can find this one from: http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/saturn.htm
“SuperH RISC Engine SH-1/SH-2 Programming Manual” by Hitachi. You can find a copy at: http://www.helsinki.fi/~ammonton/sega/
“Cyber Warrior X’s Junk site” by myself. Hey, might as well include my stuff as well. ;) It’s currently located at: http://members.lycos.co.uk/cyberwarriorx/
