Other than the three albums, there are a few EPs on Creation: Slowdive,
Morningrise and Holding Our Breath preceded Just For A Day and most of the
tracks were compiled on Blue Day, which was added to limited edition
Creation versions of Souvlaki and was available separately prior to that.
Just before Souvlaki came out, there was an EP entitled Outside Your Room,
which contained Alison and Souvlaki Space Station, as well as non-album
tracks So Tired and Moussaka Chaos (a remix of SSS). A four-track EP,
entitled 5EP, with entirely new material came out after the European release
of Souvlaki and 3/4 of it was added to the North American release of Souvlaki.
There is also a flexi single of two early songs, Beach Song and Take Me
Down, that was issued on Sunday Records (Albert from the label is around
here somewhere).
I think that just about covers it.

I've seen the United Healthcare ad and the music didn't strike me as
particularly Slowdive-like (I actually thought it might be Eno).
Stuff like hearing Lush in a VW ad doesn't bother me as much as hearing
music in an ad that isn't a familiar song but a simulation that sounds just
enough like it to suggest that that's what it is, but different enough that
they didn't have to go to the expense of actually paying for the real thing.

"Extra" (a late night version of Entertainment Tonight) had a short story
about a new video tribute to the late Nicole Brown Simpson on sale, and as
they ran a bit of the tape, they played the instrumental first few measures
of "Where Is the Love".
Never thought I'd see it on TV... I guess it made me angry...
If anyone has any spare copies of Holding Our Breath for sale, I'd be very
interested. (Vinyl and/or CD)

Hey Wilder,
I listened to a CD by Shallow in the store. 3D Stereo Trouble, or
something like that. It was okay, but nothing worth buying, imo. They also
have a CD called Laser Lens Cleaner, which I think is remixes, including a
Sonic Boom mix (you should dig that, Wilder!).

i've got an indie release of theirs, entitled "lack-a-dais-i-cal" or
something like that. it's pretty good. the vocals remind me somewhat
of alison shaw(the cranes), and the music is somewhat similar to the
cranes, but not as stark. i've only listened to it a couple times,
but there's some pretty good stuff on there, imo. they have a
homepage at...
http://www.zerohour.com/bios/shallowhome.html
shallow also has a couple cds out, that i haven't heard myself.
however, i've been told they're quite good.

I've been looking for Alison Halo demo (or 7") for quite some time now.
Adam himself was quite busy graduating and couldn't help me, so I would

I have lots of stuff, including Closedown demos (essential!).
Another thing I was looking for were two demo EPs by Astrobrite (headed by

Subject: RACHEL AND NEIL PICTURES!!!
It has certainly been a long time since I have written to the list...in any
case...I went to see Mojave 3 when they played the Fillmore at San Francisco..
the best part of the whole thing was the fact that the day before the concert,
Neil and Rachel played a set of their music at a record store in Berkeley
called Mod Lang. I was able to take a lot of pictures of Neil and Rachel,
which was great. The best was yet to come, though...becasue I actualy
got to meet both of them after they played a set...I was able to give Rachel
a t-shirt from my band, MESMERIZED (a shoegazer outfit)...she took it, showed
it to Simon Rowe (ex-Chapterhouse), their guitarist, and he asked me if it
was an allusion to the song of the same name...I said it was, and she
gratefully accepted the t-shirt...I guess the whole point of this is, if
anyone wants pictures of either Neil or Rachel, or a MESMERIZED t-shirt of
your own, or even better yet, a sampling of our own shoegazian music, contact
me, and we'll see what we can arrange. Until then....

Not the vocals - the words. Well, actually, just that "rain keeps on falling
in my heart" bit - it makes me think of whatever that song is that goes "The
sun is out, the sky is blue / There's not a cloud to spoil the view, but
it's raining [strings do melodramatic glissando *here*] / Raining in my
heart". Sorry if you're reading this, Rachel, but that line just sounds
schmaltzy to me.
But the little tinkly electronic sounds at the very beginning of the track
are cool. And the slide.

There's a commercial currently running here for the phone company that uses
what might be called "not the actual song 'Where It's At' by Beck, but an
incredible simulation!" - same drum pattern, same tempo, feel, etc., only
with slightly wanky guitar bits.
As for the United Healthcare ad, the more I think about it, the more it
seems like whoever wrote the music had previously been handed an Eno CD,
possibly _Music for Airports_, and told to "study this very carefully".

Glad to find a place where people appreciate slowdive.
Karsten was asking about, atmospheric melancholic music with a country
tinge. Perhaps Karsten may want to listen to Blue Tile Lounge's
lowercase (on summershine/sub pop), but they probably sound more like
Red House Painters mixed with Slowdive(Blue Day~sound) than Mojave 3.
I am also hoping that someone can tell me more about Audrey Riley
(Celloist[?] on Ask me Tomorrow ep and with the Cranes and The cure)
she tends to play with bands I like and I love the cello as an
instrument. I was hoping to follow that lead.

Slowdive or Mojave concert that they will be willing to make a copy of for
me...I live in the US, where it rteally sucks, because there is hardly any
slowdivian distribution over here...Any response to this will guarantee you
a picture of Neil and Rachel that I took when they played over here at a
record store...the pictures are really clear, because I was right at the
front when they went into their acoustic set (as Mojave 3)....About the
pictures...if anyone wants copies and stuff...let me know, so we can arrange
for the mailing and what-not...I also have a bunch of pictures of Lush that
I took before they played their concert...I ws actually lucky enough to get
a picture with the band!!! Too bad I wasn't able to get a shot of myself
with Rachel...oh well..I guess you can't have everything.
Let me get a plug in edge-wise for MY band: mesmerized!forever.

Yes, Oval is on "En cielo de Oceano" and there is a new remix
of "oval" made by Locust on Silvania's last cd "Delay Tambor".

Subject: Silvania remixes
Everyone's been talking about Silvania (a band I nothing about) lately, and
the topic of remixes came up too. Someone said Autechre, Locust, and
Scorn had remixed them. As I am a big fan these artists (esp. Autechre)
I'd be interested in finding out what disc these remixes are on. Thanks.

PS for those of you asking about Shallow, you might wanna check out the
Zero Hour (their label) website.
